Default 2017 6.7 normal operating temperature?

I have a 2017 Ram 3500 6.7l Cummins. To me it seems like it runs hot. On its digital dash guage Ive seen temps near 230 pulling a 8000lbs load with hilly terrain. Called my local dealer and they said it didn't sound like anything was wrong. It was the nature of the beast. To me thats border line boiling with anti freeze with about 3000 ft elevation. Any one else have opinions or thoughts?

What was ambient temp?

Elevation really doesn't matter for the purposes of boiling point of coolant. It's a closed system, under pressure. So long as the system holds pressure, it's all good. 230 does seem high though.......

It was about 90 to 95 degrees outside when it ran ran about 230. drove truck today with same load and about 68 degrees, the temp according to guage was anywhere from 190 to 220 degrees. If the guage is accurate Ive never seen an engine run so erratic temp wise, (unless thermostat is bad or something else)

Well, Dodge isn't known for the stellar accuracy of their gauges. Still, that seems like a pretty big swing. How many miles on the truck? Still original stat?

Truck only has 1800 miles. Hasn"t been in any shop, yet. Probably going to have to get it into dealer soon. Spoke with one of the dealer service writers last week and she said (after supposedly talking to tech) it didn't sound out of ordinary. Seems to operate around 190- 200 degrees, no load, some town driving, around 90 degree air temp. But as soon as you put any load or work it any the guage fluctuates. The line ticket for truck says it has HD cooling (not sure what that means). When I bought truck new 6 months ago, I stressed to dealer what I wanted truck for and they actually steered me away from more expensive ones to this one. Now I'm wondering if it will cut it. At times I want to haul/tow 10,000lbs.

If you end up going into the dealer, please let us know. We're available via direct message and can get this over to a Case Specialist for further handling.

May have another question, does this truck have an electric auxillary fan. If so what are the temps that it kicks on? Maybe I'm blind but I can't seem to find it.

Dealer supposedly checked everything and said all is ok. They said the computer only registered a high temp of 220. So I guess time will tell.
