My second CTD and Loving it!!!
Drew, I have read many of your postings and appreciate your expertise. I have carefully been keeping track of mileage and drive with a very light foot and use the Georga OD all the time!
2005, quad cab, 2wd, 6spd manual, 365x70 17 tires. Bought in Jan and only have 6k miles on it. Mileage from computer match's manual calculations. Seems the Low gearing affects mileage! MPG Lower on the Freeway... I am planning on getting taller tires to see how it affects my mileage.
Mileage , empty bed, No Trailer
22 MPG Small city and country driving
20.1 MPG Freeway at 65 MPH
18.2 MPG Freeway at 70 MPH / With Power service 3 cetanne 20.2 MPG at 70 MPH
Mileage empty bed TOWING small enclosed Loaded Motorcycle trailer 14'x6'
17.1 MPG Small city and country driving
13.4 very hilly freeway at 70 MPH / With Power service 3 cetanne 13.9 MPG at 70 MPH

1) Are you stock - Mostly except for straight through after market Muffler. Will get filter K&N E-0776 and Hope for tunner...
2)Fuel addatives, none, but am planning on trying Drews Mix. (Now using Power service @ 3 centainne mix)
3)Manual
4) 3.73
5) 2wd

i have calculated mine by hand--17.2 and 14.9. my computer on the truck says 13.3 when on a highway trip and it stays on 10.2 if i stay in the city. the computer was always correct until i added the bigger tires. now the computer is very, very confused!

Bigboy, your truck computer and odometer is off because of your tiresize change. If its a new truck. Take it to the dealer and have them change computer settings to match your tire size. It should be around $30 to do this. With larger diameter tires you go further than what the odometer says.

If your getting []10-11 MPG then one has to ask how you drive it and if this is your first Diesel? If it is your first one you don't drive them like you do a gas engine.

With just 380 miles on my truck I got 17.7 mpg (empty & freeway driving). On my 4700 mile trip to Oregon and back last month with a lite 800+ lb load my over all mpg was 18.3. FYI all mpg was hand calculated. Hope yours gets better.

I think i drive pretty easy on it... Yes it is my first Diesel most of my driveing is stop at go but i do get on the freeway for a stretch from time to time i put about 600 miles a week on my truck and if i was to be completly truthful my mileage would be more like 9 - 10 mpg....
