DIY Maintenance: 05 & later grease fitting
I went to my local Dodge service center and asked for help on locating that fitting. The service rep put it up on the rack and we couldn't find the grease fitting. The service guy said he has seen it on some trucks and has not seen it on other trucks. I have an 06' Megacab 2500 CTD, but everyone here says the fitting is there. Not sure what to do next other than go to another dealership.......
Okay...I stand corrected. The whole lube point on the front shaft was bothering me so I lifted the front-end got under the truck and rotated the tires. I kept looking and looking and looking and guess what I finally found the lube point everybody has been talking about.....
So know I am totally convinced that the Service Technichan and the Dodge dealership is an idiot.

Ok, so the picture is a great reference, unless your drive line isnt that clean. I did manage to find it and found it easier to use a Grease Injector Needle. The Needle slid right in, stayed in place and was very simple to do. All the grease went right into the fitting. Thanks to everyones input for finding this fitting and informing the rest of us. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the post...
I've tried two different grease fitting needles like the Napa one and all is get is grease all over the place. I'm gonna try the Injector Needle to see how that works.
Can you tell us what the brand and part number is for the Injector Needle you used?
Thanks very much for your post. This is very helpful.

Utah, I threw the packaging away, but I purchased my injector from API, Autobody Products Inc. Not sure on the part number but I know I paid $8 for mine. I found one online the same exact one I have. http://www.shop.com/op/~_Lubrimatic_...e-prod-9682393
Let me know how it works for you. Has anybody else tried the injector needle? Any Feedback or comments?

I use the grease injector needle by Lubrimatic and it works much better than the larger NAPA needle. It's slimmer and easier to get in place......especially in the tight a$$ place the DC engineers put the grease fitting to begin with!!!!!

that would be a total of three grease fittings on the '06 4X4's. Correct? and thanks for the pic.

Drew,
If the above is true (sorry for the ryhme)
, can you please name off the three fitting's locations so I make sure I get all three when I tries to change this stuff called oil?
The 18 guage needle suggested by RyEnFF31above worked for me. Grease went into the fitting and none went where it did not belong. I bought mine at O'Reilly Autoparts. I'm looking for a better one. Theirs came apart when I first tried to pull it off the grease gun hose. The zerk separated from the actuall needle. I hope someone makes one that is betterthan the one I got.O'Reilly's isa POS.
