the up comeing 6.7L Cummins *updated*
i had ordered a 07 back in sept and just got mine last month.i had a 05.it was hard not to get another 5.9.
i work for cat and we had the filters on our new engine cuming out.we have seen some small problems but nothing major.although nodody really has alot of exp on them nand how they will work.i think the 6.7 will be as great engine but as far as fuel milage i thin thats why they put this new tranny behind it to gain fuel milage on the highway.but no one really know yet.as far as chips i would like to see what there going to do.all i see is a bunch of plugged filters in less they can remove the filter with out the computer knowing then the epa has fines so i guess its alot about how much time you have and money.

that is realy what it comes down to, time and money. I know on fords you can isolate the EGR and fool it so the computer still thinks it is there. I would imagine on the 6.7L something of the same would become available. I would also say the same thing with the filter and cat. there will be a way to fool the sensors into thinking it is still there when it is not.

speaking of cat, I get to go to their school in january for their new epaB.S. engine. From pictures and webex meetings, I'd sure hate to inframe one of them. I can also see warrenty not paying even close to the time it takes.[:@]

what I thought was interesting was some cars in the 70's were getting the better part of 45-50mpg useing carborators, no cat's, EGR's, or other smog crap. . .thanks california tree humpers.

ya so much for the old timers and there mom and pop shops,they will be clueless,cause we don't even have any info on them yet.i agree.i think its gonna come down how bad does epa have a cow over over this stuff.cause it is requiried now that means you will have to have it to get inspected.

Dodge will be adding an “Ultra-Clean Diesel System†charge of $995.00 MSRP for all Ram's equipped with the 6.7 diesel engine. This will be added as a separate line item on the factory sticker.
Displaying this charge prominently on the Monroney label will provide high visibility of the sophisticated emissions systems on the Ram, as well as the significant cost of these EPA standards. This approach will give dealers a more effective tool for explaining the diesel price increase, compared to a pure, option price increase.

What's really strange about the pricing is a 3500 chassis cab lists the 6.7L engine at $5,555 and the trans. for $2,295. As for the $ 995 emission charge [sm=smiley21.gif]How many people are then gonna argue with the dealer saying they don't want/need the emissions stuff? Then the dealer will hear how Ford/Chevy don't charge for this. I think it'll be a bigger hassle than anything.
At any rate, $8,670 (your info)is about $2000 more than the outgoing combo. Steep!

I'm confused.Istarted looking around the company web site and now Ithink I see what you're saying. It shows the 68RFE Orion in the pick-upand the Aisin AS68RC in the chassis cab. Now, I need to ask, do you know what the differances are? Is one "better" than the other? I looked a little closer and see that they are different ratios, also. Who is making the 68RFE? Inever noticedthere were2 different 6 speed autos for the diesels.
I'm kinda glad DC is putting that stuff on the sticker. Maybe then it will fire up people and have us asking exactly why we have to have this crap that reduces fuel mileage and performance.
