Your getting better mielage than me. I have the same truck as you, K&N intake, BDTD programmer and Aero muffler. I'm getting 18mpg hwy and 14.5 city. I only have 10k miles rite now, so I'm hoping it gets better as the miles stack on.

Does anyone know if the Aero or any exhaust would bump up mpg on 06 ctd. I am currently running a Banks monster 4" and getting about 17.5 in the city and 21 mpg headed to Gulf Shores. Burnt less than a half a tank from Lafayette La to Gulf shores. I was running about 75-78 mph.
if your looking for any kind of mileage upgrade... go with a basic performance box designed for mpg improvement or go with a rotteck crank sensor (or both). i'd leave the exhaust alone and drop in a performance filter into the stock box.

all the mods i've done have made my motor perform really well but have hurt the mileage. it's tough to get both.

I have an 06 ctd 4x4 6sp, I have a drop in k&n, edge juice with attitude, and aero turbine 4040xl welded in the stock muffler location, cat in place, stock tires. I averaged 10.5 mpg towing appox. 6000 to 7000lbs that trip was all hand calculated running 75 mph cruise control for almost 800 miles. The truck only has 5000 miles on it. I have not been impressed with the turbine muffler as of yet, it has a horrible 70mph drone especially when towing. That whole trip the edge was set on 2. While unloaded running 75mph cruise on the truck averages about 14.25 mpg no matter what the edge is set on. To be honest I have been displeased with all the mods for the truck, dont get me wrong the truck runs great but nothing has improved the mileage if anything it has made it worse. The best the truck has ever got was 18.75 hand calc, and completely stock with less than 600 miles on it. I realize that the truck gets 3 mpg better running around 60-65 but most long trips have 70-75 mph speeds. If you guys have any suggestions let me know.

If your interested in getting rid of the drone, try the Banks 4" monster. It's pretty good with sound. I also have a friend with a mbrp and his has a pretty good sound also..

That sucks about the drone, I hate to hear that. I haven't experienced any drone with mine,,,, then again, I don't haul anything. That may be the difference.

WOW ... I'm really sorry to hear that you're not happy. I haven't towed my trailer yet so I don't know how it's going to sound when I do, but I know it sounds pretty good now. I love it actually. It seems like the turbo spools right up from go. The truck to me sounds more like a TRUCK. Since adding the Turbine it seems like the truck has more giddy-up.

Another thing I've noticed is that it seems like the exhaust comes FLYING out of the tailpipe. I didn't really notice it before I added the Aero, but since adding it the other night I opened the door for my ladyfriend and put her in. While walking past the tailpipe the exhaust BLASTED my pants. I never noticed that before. Pretty cool.

Anyway ..

Again, I'm really sorry to hear how unhappy you are. I hope someone here will be able to help you find the right combo for you.

one suggestion for you is to put the edge on #1 setting, #1 low boost fueling and set your max boost level at the minimum 25psi. if you do this around town and bump it up when you need the power, you should get better mileage. I'm finding that the edge will start dumping fuel at the higher boost levels and kills the mileage quick. soo with that said, i'm in the middle of a quick test of the above setup to see how much of a difference it makes (my edge is broke btw... it's dumping more fuel than it should). for everyday driving, the lower settings should be plenty good.

rfinn,

As far as the mpg goeas, what are you runnin, 4.10's? Youll get a little less than the 3.73. I didnt notice any real dif in mpg's when I installed the Aero but it was a huge improvement in the "drone".

Did you install a tip on your exhuast as well?

After the Aero install I still had a little drone so I went and adjusted the exhuast tip out about 2" (read that hear or somewhere) and poof! Gone. Almost as quiet as stock-until you roll down the window

Another thing, I know it sounds dumb but did they install the Aero correctly? If theres one thing I have learned it is if I didnt do it myself then theres always a chance. (at least that seems to be my luck!)

Before mods 20-21mpg highway, After 17. C'est la vie.

I just put 33" M/T's on and am about 1/2 through a tank. I'm anxiously waiting to see how the numbers come out. [sm=confused06.gif]

BlkRam...I'll bet you drop 2~3 mpg. that's what mine did. which tire do you have on there? My Pro-comp extreme AT's seem to be holding up pretty well, i've put about 18k on them and the wear is pretty even and slow. I may be able to get 35~40k out of them.

edit... Oh yeah and do you have pics?
