I know it sounds dumb but did they install the Aero correctly?
VERY good question !!!!

I just had my Aero installed last weekend, and the first time it was pulled out of the shop I noticed that it was put on backwards. ( the rings have to be at the BACK of the muffler, not the front ) After a call to the manfacturer, I was told that not only was it installed wrong, but if i had left it that way my truck would have run WORSE, not better than it did before.

Look for the rings ( two of em ). They should be closest to the tailpipe.

My truck has the 3.73 gears. I installed the aero my self and have double checked it for correct placement. It does have a tip and i may try to move it out. I am for sure going to try steves recommendation on the edge settings. thanks guys for you help.

The drone is only from like 68 to 72. at 75 its almost completely gone.

thanks for the responses...

Yeah, I got the tip with mine. I had em' cut off about 6" from the end of the exhaust pipe and then weld the tip on. I think it looks awesome. The pipe is 4" and the tip is 5".

A loss of 2-3? [:@]

I'm going to stay optimistic, or just stop checkin my mileage.

I went with 33" Super Swamper M/T's. I know, I know, I had numerous posts about the Toyo's but they were on a 6-9 month back order so I compromised. Besides, I couldnt wait. I had the KORE leveling kit in my garage and it was driving me crazy!

If I put it on with the stock tires it would really look funny. If I didnt......There it sat.... So thats the story.

Anyways I do have a couple pics I took. Kinda dark and the truck was dirty but I'm gonna take some more this weekend.

Ok I put it on, I was 16 inches short so I went to a Mack truck dealer and bought the pipe I put it on, immediatly I noticed that I got my low end power back however it has done nothing for the mpg. I was around 14 with the BD muffler and I am still around 14, I did loose the drone I can't even hear it in the cab unless I'm really on it. I have not towed with it yet however.

So how did you compare the before & after mileage? my tests have been mostly (90% work) the same route, driving the same speeds...

troop, if its the aero that your talking about, then yeah, in the cab is gonna stay fairly quiet. But trust me, it's loud as krap outside. drive next some to buildings or highway construcion barriers and get on it, with the windows donw, trust me, you'll hear it. I haven't noticed any change in mpg, but I did get the lowend tourqe back that I lost withe the elcheapo freeflow, I guess the design adds a little back pressure.

You guy's have noticed pretty much the same thing that I have. I only did 1 mpg test since installing the Aero, and it came back at 14mpg. Before the Aero with my new tires ( 17" rims and 265 tires ) I was getting between high 13's to low 14's. With my original 16" rims with stock exhaust I was getting high 14's to low 15 mpg. Now, with the larger 17" rims and tires and the Aero I'm right back to where I was before ... mid 14's. Better than before !!

The sound to me sounds exactly as it did before without a tailpipe. SLIGHTLY louder inside, but when I say slightly, I mean SLIGHTLY. By no means is it annoying at all. As a matter of fact it's probably a mind thing because my ear is tuned to listen for it. I think your average Joe wouldn't even notice.

Outside though .... WOWZA !! Even at an idle at a MAC machine it sounds awesome. It just sounds like sheer power. Walk past the tailpipe and you're GONNA feel the pressure !! Just like others have said, when you roll by a wall with the windows down it sounds phoenominal. I couldn't be happier.

Thanks again guy's for helping me out. I love it !!
