Default Delo 400 oil and /or Napa gold Filters

Anybody using either of them and have you had any issues?

I hit 1000 miles on the new engine and dumped it (I've always done this). I hate about thinking of the floaties that come off during the initial break in.

Next change will be at 5000, then to synthetic at 10K.

Man, I'll need to get used to seeing black oil, even after changing it.

Thanks!

Rich

YES YOU WILL HAVE TO GET USED TO SEEING THE BLACK OIL, TOOK ME A WHIEL, I USE NAPA GOLD, I HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR A LONG TIME ON MY FARM, I ALSO WORK IN THE OILFIELD, WIX IS USED ALOTT OUT IN THE GULF, SO FAR SO GOOD WITH ME, AS FAR AS OIL, EVERYONE WILL SAY THIS ONE OR THAT ONE, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS WHAT OIL AND FILTER WILL GIVE YOU A PIECE OF MIND, IF YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT NAPA AND DELO RUN IT, BECAUSE IF YOU RUN SOMETHING YOU HAVE NEVER USED YOU WILL ALWAYS WONDER, I DO ANYWAY, THEY BOTH ARE GOOD PRODUCTS, I BELIEVE AS LONG AS YOU CHANGE YOUR OIL AS THE PEPOLE WHO DESIGN AND ENGINEER ENGINES SAY, HOW CAN YOU GO WROUNG, DELO AND NAPA ARE PROVEN................

From what I'm seeing, the NAPA Gold is a Wix filter.

I've never bought into the whole extended change thing. I tend to go between the A/B schedules, simply for the fact that I'm never heavily to either side. So I'm thinking 5K is gonna be a good change point for me with this truck. All my usual running is 15-20 miles plus, occassional stop and go, my trailer is never over 4-5K, and I don't idle excessively.

Figure 5K for oil / filter, 10K for the fuel filter and 15K on the air should be just fine.

YEP, NAPA IS WIX, AND 5K IS WHAT I DO, ALL THE GUYS THAT RUN OIL FOR 12K-20K MILES I SAY "WHY", OK YOU SEND IN A OIL SAMPLE, OK, AND IF IT COMES BACK "BAD" THEN WHAT, THE DAMAGE IS DONE, I'M LIKE YOU, GO WITH WHAT THE ENGINEERS AND DESIGN PEPOLE SAY, WHY BECAUSE I WOULD THINK THEY KNOW A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN ME

My thoughts too. I never claimed to be the fartest smucker in the world, so I'll let them edumacated folks do all the number crunching.

Really though, an oil change costs less than a tank of fuel. That's just cheap insurance.

This is the first diesel I have owned and the black oil thing is hard to get use to. I have 7300 miles on my truck now and have done two oil and filter changes, each at about 3000 miles.

Should I expect the oil to turn black in 500+ miles after every oil change from now on?

It'll be black with a few seconds of changing it.

I just got my truck last week. one of the last 06 2 wheel drive trucks on this particular lot. anyway i found the engin manufacture date from cummins. the thing was assembled back in september of 05. So now the big question. if the thing sat on the lot for about 9 months and only had 37 miles on it do you think the oil is bad?
