Default new truck/07 diesel information

well today i went and priced out some new CTD's. theres not a single used one out of the 4 dealerships i went to so i priced new. i have my name in at all of them if they get a truck that i want. im approved for a loan for a brand new 06 cummins but they hafta find the one i want and then as soon as my jetski is gone ill be rockin the diesel. i dont wanna deal with that new 07 diesel BS where uu need the additive and all that jazz. speaking of that...does anyone have any information on that? i know the basic idea that you need an additive for 07 diesels but thats about it. im curious to know more.
thanks everyone and ill let you know when i convert from a gasser to a diesel

The new 07's have to run Ultra low sulfur diesel. I'm not aware of any additive that needs to be ran.

I just sold my 02 , and am now the proud owner of a 2007 , but since I got the 07 now, I do NOT have any of that new stuff, my engine is still a 5.9 though. SO if you get an early 07 you will not have all that new stuff on it !!!!

2007's won't need additives any more than any other year - just ULSD as JakeB says. What the jury is still out on is whether or not the mileage and/or power will suffer because of the added emission equipment. But as KingD notes, the '07's don't even have to meet the 2007 reqmt's if they're produced now, in 2006. I know my ISL is of the current, 2006, technology even though it's in a 2007 vehicle.

every engine built jan 1 2007 and after will have emission's crap on it. Running one tank of lsd equals 33tanks of ulsd the DPF can not handle that. It will plug it beyond they engine capability to regen it. (speaking on otr trucks, not sure on pickups)

I think same thing applies to ISB's - but by the time the 2007-produced engines are out, ALL the tanks are SUPPOSED to be pumping ULSD - so there SHOULDN'T be a problem with clogging. (note the operative words - I for one would be very cautious with a 2007-produced engine as I find it hard to believe all stations will clean out their tanks to remove the LSD come January 1...)

well a few weeks ago i heard that ULSD is now inservice and LSD is gone... and tehres additives in that to make up for the lubrication purposes the diesel fuel is used for : injectors, pump, etc. so no matter what all diesels will be affected by the ULSD.. and the epa is retarded for this 07 emission crap... its gonna get worse and worse as time goes on... soon diesels are gonna end up breathing through a straw to pervent any emissions cause epa is once again.. retarded
