what problems are some people having with the Tranny?
what are people doing to prevent this, with the exception of not abusing the truck.

RE: Newbie Needs Help
Rudy,
I love the extra room in my CTD MC (had 2 QC 1 Hemi & 1 CTD). As far as extras go, my mix works pretty well.
Drop in proguard 7 filter (plenty of air really) $70
Areo muffler w/ resonator $240
Dash mount guage pod $35
Autometer Trans, EGT, & Boost guages $290
Bully Dog Tripple Dog downloader $500
QuadZilla Econo chip (+ 65 HP / 120 Trq) $290
KORE 2.5" front end leveling kit (new springs / shocks) $450
33" Super Swamper TRXUS M/T's (10ply / E rated) $870
and lastly MBRP 5" cat back w/ 6" SS tip $500
All told I would either stay with the stock exhuast and throw the Aero on or if your doing the exhust stay with a 4" (+ Aero, I really like the sound and perf.)
Engine mods the BDTD works great for me but the TST is the Shiznit. Plenty of power now and all the room you could ask for to grow into. Smarty (down loader) is supposed to be undetectable by the dealer so if your real paranoid about the warrenty (and who wouldnt be) that may be a good route. Still plenty of power there.
Tranny upgrades, throw extra power at the auto tranny and it will slip sooner or later. At first youll be blown away at the extra power and wont notice much but then itll be more noticeable.
Plan on at least $400 for a valve body (solves alot as long as your not throwing more than 70-100 HP at it) but the tranny will still slip in time so a VB ($400) and Torque converter (around $1400 or as much as you want to spend) is the best combo. If your gonna race (a Mega Cab? could happen) then a full built tranny can go for $4k to $6K.
My future mods.....ATS arc flow intake ($300) and VB & Trq converter (priced it last week at $2000 parts & labor) and maybe the Smarty or TST (the TST is not something you can take on and off quickly / easily if you have to go to the dealer) so that will wait for another 30-50K miles (about this time next year).
I'd love to throw in a mild set of injectors 80-100 HP ($800-$1100) but that def. comes wont happen until after the tranny / warrenty.
So all told if you went with the items (or similiar) in red you will be more than happy and that CTD (QC or MC) will throw you back in your seat for about $1600.
Good luck. Around here all the '06's (CTD Mega Cabs) are going out with $10K off the list!

So you got rid of the SRT huh... thats crazy... I have always loved the the cummins and figured its about time for me to buck up. I love to do alot of fishing and hunting so i figured the right way to go is with the mega.
As far as upgrades i understand that the bully dog sys is good along with the intake and exhaust. Just a question but how much has these upgrades run ya'll on average.
