Default How Is The Power Off Delay Feature Activated?

That is, if there is one. I just came back from my dealer for it's first LOF and while I was there I asked about it. Two guys there knew nothing about it. Is there really such a feature? Although I have no need for it, I also asked about activating the high idle feature and they knew nothing about that either. Hmmm.....

Yes the 2006 have power on with key off, DRL (drl=day light running lights) and high idle all turned on by the Dodge Dealership. Some will do the high idle for free and some others charge $35 and up for all of this to be done.

The TBS some use to get it paid for by Dodge is 18-004-04 Forgot to say that they use a scan tool to hook up to the computer to turn all of this stuff on.

Thanks for the info. I looked through the owners manual under "programmable features" or something like that, went to those pages & all it talked about was programming the Home Link feature, but then again, there's another part in the manual contents that directs you to the Home Link features for the same pages. It seems as if something's out of order there. Anyways, the service manager at the dealership knew nothing about a power off delay on the Rams, although he was aware of the high idle feature. The DRL seems to be on Canada trucks only. Looks like I may be out of luck on the power off delay. Bummer!

Wait, this is the first I heard of this. There is a built in turbo timer that needs to be turned on?

I don't know about a turbo timer, but I was referring to the power staying on, such as the radio, when you turn the truck off. Then the radio would turn off once a door was opened.

FYI I live in Iowa and I had the DRL turned on by the dealer here. I also had them set up the power off delay at the same time of the DRL and High idle. Tell your dealer to get his head out of his back side do his job and read up on this as he can turn them on for you just like they did on my 2006 truck. I think they use the Star Scan to enable it just like they do for the high idle. Is your dealership even Dodge trained to work on the Cummins if so then the tech should know how to do this if not he can open his books and read how to do it. If he still tells you he can not do it I will give him the phone number to our SM here so thay can tell him how to do it. I hate very Dumb SM's and I think you have one.

FYI, DRL are turned on, on all Canada trucks as it's the law there for them just like cars do here.

That sure sounds promising since that is definately one feature I miss from my previous truck (F250). Thanks alot for that. I'll keep pressing the issue since it can be done for sure. I'll also call a different dealership. The one I use has been around for many decades so I figured if anybody would know, they would. We'll see what Monday turns up. Thanks again!

Too cool! I'm now sportin the power-off delay as well as the idle-up feature! The guy couldn't find the DRL in the Star Scan tool however he's gonna call DC & find where it is, then get back with me. I did have to go to another dealer for this since my dealer of choice has no idea about these features. He didn't even charge me and he refused the 20 spot I tried to give him! Looks like this is where I'll be taking "Fergie" for her future needs!

Will have to get this done as well. My Tahoe has the delayed power off feature and I really like. As for DRL's no way! LOL.

how does the high idle work? Is it higher RPM after start up, does it cycle high to low every other minute or so, or just run a constant higher RPM?[sm=dontgetit.gif]
