Default New Truck prices

Hey guys I have an odd question? What does everyone pay on their new trucks. I have a friend who is look into a new Mega cab but he's not sure what is a decent monthly pyment lol. He's never purchesed a car before at least not a new one. So my question is what does everyone pay on there new trucks. For him and yes he's younger but needs it surprsingly. the dealership wants 45000 for a fully loaded 2500 megacab 4x4 i think it just doesn't have the rear seat entertainment system

$45K is a bit steep - he should be able to do better - unless he has no or poor credit and he's financing...but then I'd look into getting the financing through somewhere else and bringing a check to the dealer. As for the monthly - there's so many variables...how much down, how long a contract, how good a credit score, etc...so that number won't mean much. But you can go on-line to some bank or lending institution sites, and they have calculators where you tell them how much you want to borrow (the balance of purchase price plus tax and license he'll pay after he forks out the down payment), what the interest rate is, and for how long - and you'll get the payment. Use that to see what you aren't being told...(or are being led away from)

The MSRP was $51,000.00 on all the 06 and 07 mega's I looked at. $45,000 is about right but, with some
finaglin he could get a better price..... maybe around $42 or $43,000. It all depends on how bad the dealer
want to get rid of it.

If he finances the full price.... expect payments around $800 to $1000 a month. With a trade and some money down he could
be closer to $500 a month.... credit has a lot to do with it too.

34,000 for the truck, the price depends on the dealer, the one I went too was a no hassle no haggle set pricing dealer, local wanted 4,000 more for the truck and to give me 5,000 less on my trade, shop around not just in local could save him a lot.

My credit union has a fleet buy department where they negotiated 1% over dealer invoice with several different local dealers fleet departments. it saved me about $4000.00 on my truck

We've had some guy's here get new Megas for aroung 32K. No way in hell I'd pay 50K for a truck. Shop it around. Even if you hafta go out of state there are definately better deals out there.

When I buy my 07 in August or September it will cost about 40k with summer discounts. And my monthly payments wil be around $350 a month on a 60month plan since I plan on putting down atleast 15-18k.

Wow have to agree with Mayfair. I just paid 31 and change for an 06 CTD quad SLT 4x4. Stickered for around 43+. 50K for a truck (unless its an SRT10) WOW.

My advice is to always work from the invoice price. That is the only way to tell if you are getting a good deal or not. Visit www.kbb.com to price. Also, $45-$52k is quite typical of MSRP prices. Any member of Costco or Sam's Club can typically get $500 over invoice, which is roughly equivalent to the 1% over that was mentioned earlier. Also, don't forget to tag on about 10% for tax and license (may be more or less depending on your location).

The best deals I have seen are the $12k off of MSRP for '06 models. But if you compare that to working from invoice, it really only translates into roughly $2k-$3k savings (still a sreamin' deal though). As you can see from the examples below, you already save $6k by working from invoice, added to the current rebates of $3k (which the dealer already factors into the $12k savings).

Here are some numbers I recently ran on a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab Laramie:

Invoice $45,493 MSRP $51,160

For SLT version:

Invoice $42,574

For Quad Cab 3500 Laramie:

MSRP $41,664

The Laramie's included 2UH package, automatic, 4.10 gears, rear airbags, SRW, protection group, trailer tow mirrors, limited slip, Uconnect, defroster, and engine block heater.

Avoiding the DVD and Nav system will save you around $2500.

Anyway, hope that helps.
