Have any of you seen the new toyota crewmax. It isnt as big as the megacab, but they are trying to keep up with the good ole dodge. The insides are much nicer in my opinion, but they just dont have the diesel. Why are they advertised at the top of the dodge forum to begin with?

I am not sure why they would be advertized up there.
however when toyota and nissan do put a diesel in their trucks it wont hurt the "domestic" market since the sticker price of these trucks new is sky high to begin with.

it's the allmighty $... advertise everywhere because you never know who might be interested...
Food for thought.....Toyota's been talking to Cummins to put a diesel in one.....and Nissan is actually having a V8 diesel developed by International...
Cummins is definitely considering the Toyota idea....as I've heard it several times locally here in Indiana....

Ive been hearing about the Cummins/Toyota deal as well, also the Nissan I have heard of a few different engine suppliers from International to Hyundai
and I know the $$$ runs the show, but I thought it just kinda weird

I have heard that toyota is supposed to be coming out with a diesel as well. When is the question though. It is a nice truck and if they have the same ride as the toyota then they will be a popular truck.

I would think that if Cummins developed a smaller version of the 5.9 (maybe the one in the jeep liberty??? IDK) they could slap it in smaller light duty trucks. think about it... the VW TDI motors are getting 40's average from a 1.9L motor. built up they can get well into the 300's for torque. How many small truck owners do you think would sign up for something like that? small truck, tons of power and 20's for mileage...?
Legend
I thought those Toyotas couldn't pull a lawnmower?
Even though they MAY put the power under the hood, what's the REST of the make up going to consist of ??

I know HUNDREDS would switch to a diesel in a heartbeat. If you had told me I could have a midsize truck, and get 25mpg on a daily basis I'd have said sold. The only reason I got rid of my awesome Dakota was because I couldnt keep paying 3.25 a gallon for 15mpg in it.....and I loved my truck....and will only buy a diesel when I get another one.....ORIGINAL: steve05ram360

Some Toyotas cant pull....but some are actually good trucks for what they're designed to do.....if you think about it really.....the midsize truck isnt designed to be a fullsize truck.....that's why the Dakota was so popular for a long time because it had the grunt of a fullsize but the appeal of a midsize. Unfortunately, the average midsize truck owner is more of a daily driver then a work driver...as they just enjoy owning trucks. Thus, your seeing more trucks that are going for daily MPG then pulling/hauling power.ORIGINAL: Mayfair

I really wanted a PreRunner Tacoma before I found my Stratus......but I couldnt justify it because of the gas mileage....
