Default Stock rims 315 tire?

Hey guys what are your thought on putting 315/70R17 on my stock aluminum rims. I have seen it but is it bad? The tire is rated for a 8.5 to a 10 inch rim. I think the stock ones are 7.5 aren't they? Please let me know what you think becasue i really want bigger tires and i really like my rims now.
Also with a manual 6 speed in my 2006 do you think a 35 inch tire will help my fuel economy since the RPMs are so high at high speed?

The stock rim should be a 17X8 (mine were). I would expect your fuel econ to drop about 1 mpg with 35" tires. Just think of all the extra rotating mass the larger tire has.

33's work great with zero rub. I originally wanted 35's however went with the lesser becouse I couldnt get the 35's I wanted at the time.

I'd love to run 35's just for a day to see if I liked them but I havnt been able to talk my tire guy into a test drive.

I will say however thatmy trucks overall ride and drivability took a turn for the worse after I went to the 33's. It took about 3 brushes wit the dreaded "Death Wobble"[sm=scared09.gif] before I broke down and bought a gas charged steering damper from KORE.

Immediate and noticable imrovement!

What tires are you running Blk Ram69? I was going to run toyo MTs. I thought the newer dodges didn't have the death wobble. I am deffenently planning on getting the Kore chase kit B4 i do the bigger tires any ways. How much was the steering damper? I am interested. The chase kit i can get for $2,300 shipped.
Does any one out there run 315's on their stock rims? If so does it were the tires weird or more quickly?

Thanks

you could use the 315's on the stock rims although they would have more of a rounded look to them instead of a squared off look to them (am i making any sense?) Working in a tire store i have done some i personally don't like the look.

I went with the trxus M/T's http://www.intercotire.com/site35.php becouse everyone I talked to couldnt put there hands on the Toyos at the time. I think Toyo will still be my next tire I just need to get my wife to let me buy a set now while I can get them.

As far as the death wobble goes,.... At first the truck drove like a dream. I did notice on some roads the bumps would last a little longer. Then as I started to mod it (tires, leveling kit) I got my first taste of the "wobble".

I was excelerating and hit a bump and it felt like it kept building to the point I had to slow down from 55 to about 35 before it passed. This happened 3 more times before I broke down bought the stabilyzer.

Here are some Pics of BFG 315/70-17's on stock rims.

Note the small rub on the upper control arm. This is the Drivers Side. Passenger side not as bad but still there.

I think it fills out the wells nicely.

I have more pics with a large ruler in the frame to give clearance dimensions. PM me and I will send.

This is my first post with pics. Hope this works.

Take a look at this months 4x4 off road mag. They have a CTD project truck and they say that on a 2500 you can run a 35x12.50 tire on the stock rims with only mild rubbing at full lock. I would think that small wheel spacers would fix this maybe like 1 inch wheel spacers would do the trick.
