If you are still not covinced hook the blower up and take the oil filler cap off and check for air flow and then check for air flow out the intake.
Would you feel, or NOT feel any air at those two points?

Would putting the egt probe after the turbo make that much difference? I know the temps would be different but if the temperature spikes wouldnt you notice pretty much just as quick after the turbo?

Can you put it after the turbo? Absolutely. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Basically, if you want to mod your truck, hot rod it a little, pull, race, add more stuff to it......then do the probe pre-turbo. You need to see what kind of heat your exhaust valves and turbo fins are feeling.

If you aren't planning on making any more big mods and just want a really good read out for the turbo timer, then go post-turbo. The good thing about post turbo is that it will show you what the turbo is feeling after you shut down, which will work good with the turbo timer set up for EGT. This is a good setup if you have plan to tow big and wanna make sure you completely cool it down after a hot, hard, or high altitude run.

You're gonna see a 200 - 400 degree difference by mounting it after the turbo and it will be slower to respond. The turbo soaks up a lot of heat energy as the exhaust passes through.

WOW, nowI don't know where to drill for my probe.

I was under the impression that the best place to drill was before the turbo. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't drill it after the turbo since I don't see myself bombing my truck at all.

Suggestions ??
