Default washer pump

It seems that my windshield washer pump has quit working. Any common problems with this for me to start looking. I couldn't find a fuse clearly labeled for that but the ones I thought might control it looked ok. When I press the switch you can't hear the pump run at all but the wipers do come on like they should.

I've had intermittant problems with this all winter, but I thought it was fluid freezing causing it. Now it has quit completely.

I'll take any suggestions.

that was quick. . .the only other thing I can think of would be to take a multimeter to the leads and see if you get any voltage at the connector to the pump, if you do then you know the pump is fried.

Ok Drew, now I feel slightly stupid. Should have thought to check the voltage at the pump. duh.

Next stupid question: Is there a trick to getting that connection off. Looks like you simply squeeze a lock tab and pull, but I can't get it off.

bro. . .I just put my truck in my garage for the first time. . .had 1/2" clerance between the top of the cab and the metal bar of doom just so I could get good light on this. . .

anyway you need a flat head screwdriver. take the screwdriver and put it inside the catch. if you have enough light you will see a red tab to push against. gently push up and the red locking tab will pup up. then squeeze the release and the connector will wiggle off with some force

I hear ya on the 1/2" clearance. I can't go in mine at all. I can get in my parents garage if someone pushes up on the garage door slightly on each side when I pull in.

I saw the red tab you're talking about. I'll check it out tomorrow when I have some light.

Thanks

I had a similar problem on a '97, I found out the pump was fine but it somehow became turned upside down. If all else fails rotate it 180 degrees and give it a try

Had the same problem recently...intermitent then completely dead. Turned out to be a bad ground wire on the fire wall, sanded clean, it's been working fine ever since.
