Default Is this the blow-by hose ??

I've heard you guy's talk about a blow-by hose as being the source of the smell from a fresh oil change. I remember someone mentioning to extend it past the cab and I wouldn't smell it anymore. Is this the blow-by hose? It sure does look like it as it seems to be dripping oil or something all over the front driveshaft.

Check it out ...

That's the one, it ventilates the crankcase so it would be the cause for the oil smell.

disclaimer I don't actually own a 2nd gen, but I did see one on a drive by

Can I just put an elbow on the line and extend it past the cab? Do you see any reason why that won't work?

no reason at all, I would not restrict the tube in any way,
that way the engine will still ventilate correctly

I know some guys that put a catch cup at the end of that to collect the sludge that comes out of it with one of them small air filters at the end. they just empty it out when it gets full and change the air filter.

I was actually thinking about putting an elbow on it and running it back past the cab. Do you think that would work, or do you think that would somehow restrict the airflow?

I ran my hose into the cab so it won't drip onto the ground.
