Default Aftermarket exhaust questions.

I see a couple options for exhaust for this truck and was wondering if the gains are enough to justify the noise as I like to keep it as quiet as possible for that sleeper effect. I am even somewhat aftaid of the intakes because of the growel they make but being in Tulsa, OK I have yet to find one SRT10 on the street much less a modded one to actually hear it first hand.

The ONLY noise I would like to hear is the subtle whistle of a well tuned turbo neatly stuffed under the hood. [sm=gears.gif]

I know I don't own my SRT10 yet but trust me.... it's just a matter of time and not much time at that. LOL! My main reason I don't own one yet is because I just recently decided that I want one and being so late in the year I was kind of waiting on the 06 models. Looking at the pictures though.... I am completely turned off by the durango look. If there are no performance gains coming in 06 then an 05 I will own. They are just so SEXY!!!! OOPS.....Dammit!!! that has never happened to me before!!! Could U get me a towell please? LOL!

I myself am just like you, waiting a bit to get my hands on an srt-10. going for the red or black reg cab! but i want to be able to hear that viper engine, a sick exhaust that is begging to let them 500 ponies out from under the hood. then after the warrenty is up and i have more cash ill through sum bling into a turbo haha ;> 04 or 05 too! them 06's arent all that hawt like u said. durango is no thx ;>

nice rides by the way, is it just me or does the back end of the excursion look lower then the front?
peace out

Hey rab986, welcome to the forum! I like your lineup of vehicles!! Very nice. I love the Impala. I see you ran 11.14, what mods do you have done. I sold my ProCharged 6spd 96 Impala to buy my SRT-10.

Thanx for the compliments on my cars... My Impy is my baby and here is the link to the modlist. It is an old list and since then I have done some fine tuning and tweaking on the suspension.

Just curious... but what did you have done to your Impy and what did you end up getting out of it?

Nice list of mods! I see you made it to the "other" forum. I use the same screen name there too. Anyway, the major mods I had done were
BBHP 6spd conversion #16
ATI ProCharger from Combination Motorsports
ClearImage Quad-4 (or was that 1?) long tubes
NX nitrous kit
4.10 gears
ported TB
1.6 rockers

I never opened up the motor except to replace the #7 piston when it broke! And like you I do all my own work. I sold it last year with only 11k miles on the odometer for $20k to a friend. Now he is trying to sell it for $26k!

That's a nice stable of vehicles!!!! The day I saw my first mid 90s Impala I told my wife we should buy one and put it in a time capsule because it will be a classic. I was right. Have you hooked up with Roktman on the other forum yet? He has a 900 hp Impala. The Excursion is hot too. My brother has a stocker that hauls butt. My second son drives an '03 M3 that he loves. He's been seriously looking at a S/C for it. He lives in LA and has been sideswiped once and rear ended twice. Don't tell me, your SRT-10 is going to be .....black. Am I right? Just a wild guess.

You won't be able to keep the sleeper effect with any of the aftermarket exhaust systems. They all make a little noise and amplify that V-10 burble upon deaccelration. The power gains with just an exhaust are somewhat minimal, 8 - 10 rwhp, but you'll need it if you're going to add more go-fast parts later.

There are a few guys with SRTs in OK. Not sure how close to Tulsa they are though.

Welcome and good luck with your purchase.

11k? Wow! Your buddy got a deal!

Yeah... I have heard some of the exhaust systems on here and the other forum and the V10 seems like a tough motor to get to sound good! Is it an Even Fire motor or something? One of my best friends owns an exhaust shop so I will be doing alot of testing the day I get the truck.

Yes... black is my first choice then a very close second will be the silver. Will pretty much depend on the price and options though.
