Default Ques. about my new srt-10

Hi, and thankyou for a place to post such questions. I just got my new SRT-10 Quad Cab 2 days ago, and I can barley get this thing to roll the tires over, especially with a passenger or two. Is this normal? The truck has got some power, but I thought It just blow away the tires at will. Has anyone else experianced this? Thanks for the input. Adam

Yes, this is a common problem....
The PCM has quit a bit of torque managment applied for the first 1000 miles. The easiest way around this is to get a stage 2 PCM upgrade from DC performance or X-Metal.

The PCM upgrade will improve your shifts, lower your operating temps, and give you up to 60-70rwhp gain across the lower rpms. Hard to say how much peak hp and tq is gained but it will unleash the beast

Hey i am glad to see someone else expierienced this. I bought a new 05 reg cab 2 weeks ago and i got it home and was scared because it was driving slower than my last truck that is not fast at all. I was very worried to say the least. But then i put about 800 miles on it and while i am still not feeling the power i have heard about or seen from others, i can say it got a little faster. I havent hit the 1000 mile mark yet. Private message meand keep me up to date on your break in so we can compare. I have also heard that it the pcm or whatever limits the truck is on for up to 6000 miles until it fully clicks off. But i hope its sooner. But message me and let me know how many miles your at and stuff .

Thanks

Thanks guys, This has kept me from driving it right back to the dealer. I will keep you posted on what happens to the truck as the millage goes up. I have a real prob if it is 6000 miles, I am not that patient. Do anyone know where to get the X-Metal chip, and which is better DC or X? Will this void my warrenty? Thanks agian.

Both are about the same in regards to performance.

In the QC, you will notice a HUGE diference. In the RC some but not as much as the QC.

Keep in mind that stock, these engines dont start making considering HP and torque until you get in the 3800 rpm range. The real fun starts at 4500.

Minor mods will improve both RC and QC's but of course the sky is the limit

Which cold air intake do you recomend? Have you seen the Volant, it seems making the ram air on the hood funtional would be good but does it effect cooling of the motor? Have you had any experiance with it?

CAI's have been the most controversial mod to the RAM SRT-10's. Some people love them and some dont. My advice is dont expect significant HP gains and purchase the CAI that you like the looks/sound of. I purchased my CAI for the way it compliments the sound of the truck.

The camp is split about 50/50...so depends on what you are trying to gain and your pocket book A set of mids are just a little more than a CAI and there is 100% agreement that you will gain 15-20 hp no problem

Mid pipes. Replaces the pipes from the manifolds to the cat back exhaust. You can either go with high flow cats or no cats.

I am a little over 1000 miles on my 2005 RC, and i am feeling a little power increase but nothing to shout about. This thing is still slow, i think i am pulling about a 0-60 in about 8 or 9 seconds. Raced my 2005 Nissan frontier against it and it cleaned its clock. When i bought the car 3 weeks ago and complained on the test drive that this is the slowest 500 hp i have ever felt the dodge dealer checked it and said everything is fine and probably just needs to break in. And then said something about how the truck is not suppose to be floored but yet gradually applying gas. Either way its slow! I see everyone elses videos on here chirping tires and screaming down the road. Is this all in the stock pcm? Why would dodge make it this slow at the start and not make this widely known info. Please Help, do i need to take this to another dodge dealer or just throw in another pcm. Is the pcm where this problem all lies?

Any help please i am getting desperate. I shouldnt have to throw in a new pcm to get this truck to run what its suppose to run. I love everything else about the truck and i am going to keep it but i just need some help. When will this thing open up? I am adding a k&N cold air and a bb triflo exhaust this week but those arent going to fix what i am feeling.
