Hey, how you doing? Thanks again for the advice on the truck, it has been up and running like a beast since I replaced the coils. I'm stationed in nc and drove it to florida for the thanksgiving day weekend and had no problems with it, and it did pretty good on fuel as well (20 mpg). Thanks again for the advice

Default 4 cylinder missfire

Hey 94Rt10OHIO, how have you been? Well I find myself with another problem and I hope you can help me out again. My truck threw a check engine light and when I retrieved the code found out it was a cylinder 4 missfire code. I know I have spark going to that cylinder, but I still need to check compression and one of the only things I can think of is a plugged injector. I pulled the spark plugs and they all looked normal ashy except for number 4 which looked like it had a coat of gunk on it. What do you think? I hope you can help me out on this. Thanks

Either the plug, ingnition wire or coil is bad. Start with the plug as the wires terminate under the intake where the coils are located, in other words the intake has to come off to do wires and coil.

Make sure to clear your codes after putting in a new plug, I would also stick with the same Champions that are in your truck unless you are going FI.

Default Cylinder 4 missfire

Good morning, thanks for the info. I replaced the plugs and had the codes reset but the same code came back several miles later. I checked for spark at that cylinder and there definitely is spark going to that cylinder. I also ran a compression test on that cylinder and compared it with others and they were pretty even. I replaced the coils less than a year ago, and the only thing i could think of is a clogged injector. What do you think? As always thanks for your help.

Default #4 cylinder missfire

Hey 94rt10ohio, how are you? Well here I am again, after replacing the spark plug wires on my truck and clearing the code, the same code comes right back, and that #4 plug is still fouled after driving it several miles. I am starting to worry that it could be something worse, I will run another compression test on that cylinder later. On the positive side those plug wires are awesome, I was a little skepticle about them but I was amazed to see how much difference in resistance there was between the factory and msd wires. Thanks for the advice.
