I posted a picture in that thread showing the front of the motor. You can see the alternator bracket(s) on the left. Did you view both pages of the thread?

hi i have a question about accessory belt route so thought it best to post in here.

my 318 has aircon but its not working right now so ive removed it and bought the shorter serp belt as listed in rock auto. however when i re route the belt to miss out the ac compressor-(no longer there) the belt seems to pass itself way too close above the fan pully.. in fact its touching itself..(ooh err) is there a way of lowering or highering one of the pullys to give it some clearance? anyone else done this? otherwise i guess ill have to put the compressor back in place..boo.

You're supposed to add an idler (A/C bypass) pulley when the compressor is removed.

ah i see..any idea where id get one of those?
i guess that would bolt onto the bracket where the ac used to be?

the routing diagram on the hood doesent mention it. although it is definitely not drawn to scale.

Any idea where to purchase such an item, I will continue searching, but any vectoring would be great... my disabled ac is squealing like crazy so its replace the ac or get the bypass pulley...I'm cheap and don't need ac but don't much like the noise, nor do i want it to seize.

cheers

Here is an example of the bypass pulley for dodge motors. I don't know your model specifics so you'll have to look up your exact fit one.
