I bought these for my 318 - NGK BKR5EY. Seem good all-rounders.. ANYTHING would have been better than the ones I took out. You know those pictures in the Haynes of what bad plugs can look like, well mine covered nearly every one

Been checking around, broad opinion seems to be that Autolite are very good plugs for the money. Folks also seem to like Denso and NGK, but I don't know if I'd run a Japanese plug in a Dodge, especially Platinum or Iridium. The extended change interval seems to be a great reason to try these, however. I don't find much information on Bosch Platinum's running in Dodge.

I do see see lots of complaints/frustration with Champion overall and I'm inclined to stay away from them. A few guys have said good things about Champion's Truck Plugs. I never liked Champions from my days of working on air cooled VWs - seems whenever a plug was siezed in a head it was always a damn Champion.

What would be the heat range (cooler or hotter vs stock) on a van that has about 160K and really doesn't burn oil between changes at 3K mile intervals?

I've seen some comments that running a plug one range cooler makes the engine run better and even eliminates octane ping in some instances.

Autolite AP5224 Platinum Spark Plugs. These are the single platinum series. I've read and read and read pros/cons about the double platinum and came to the conclusion that the singles are cost effective and my Magnum engine will not benefit from the double.

Autolite plugs with numbers of 5224, 5223, 3924, and 3923 will ALL work in the Magnum engines of 3.9L, 5.2L, or 5.9L.

Based on my recent research the 5223 are one heat range cooler than the 5224. Same goes for the 3923 v.s. 3924. I still don't know what the benefit (or indicator) is for running a cooler plug. I believe running a hotter plug benefits an engine that has higher mileage and is burning oil.

I don't know what other folks do, but I just got my plugs/wires from the dealer... cost a bit more but takes all the thought out of it.

The dealer will give you the Champion plugs, you can save yourself many dollars by buying the exact same plug from your local auto parts store.

Which brings up that old saying, "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."

I'm not sure what dealers are like other places but out here the plugs from the dealer weren't that much more than at the auto parts store. I'm well aware that I can get the same plugs from the auto parts store for a bit cheaper, but considering I was getting the wires from the dealer anyway it just made sense to go ahead and pick up the plugs for what was in the end just a few bucks more.
