1992 dodge ram b250 waterpump
Water was flowing out of the wep hole ..hummmm ??? I wonder why ???
Snatched out the pump from the bottom this morning while it was still cool 79 degrees 630am.I thought I would have needed some ramps or something but it came rite out.

That is certainly a lot of crud behind the impeller. Wonder what the inside of your radiator looks like.
I wonder who makes Autozone's waterpumps for them, and in what country.
I've been looking at Bosch or GMB for under 40$

Its not debris, it is pits in the metal. I had a few on mine last year when I did the timing chain. Here is a pic of the shop's van that I replaced Friday, it is worse than his:

And another shot:

I have read somewhere that this is caused by air bubble generated by cavitation, much like a ships impeller.

MAR you Sir are Correct...its pitted BAD on the motor side too I wonder what effect it has??? The Van has always run cold even with the leak.

Effect is slightly diminished cooling ability, and the fact that it is throwing metal around in our cooling systems which could clog up the radiator and/or heater core in the long run.
Yours is the first I have heard of bad pitting on the timing cover, this van above had very little on the timing cover and my van had none.
