That’s interesting, your book tells us to fill to the bottom of the fill hole, and my book said to fill up to 1/2” below the fill hole, so should I just fill it to the fill hole?, I’m just worried about over filling, I read online that I could blow some seals if I overfill, let me know what you do,,,thanks,,,,

So long as the vent tube is clear, no danger of blowing seals.

I usually route all my vent tubes up under the hood somewhere. (yes, even the rear axle) But, I take my truck into some odd and strange places too...... Hose is cheap, axles are not. I have seen too many destroyed by folks going thru water that is 'too deep'.... submerging the axle cools it, (and the air inside it.....) so it develops a bit of a suction in there, if the vent tube is submerged..... it sucks in water. Carnage follows shortly thereafter.

Unfortunately, dodge, in their infinite wisdom.... put the vent for the auto trans at the top of the pump, inside the bellhousing..... I would like to thump the idiot that thought that was a good idea.

Thanks for all your info,, I learn so much here,,,,I went under today and checked the vent and hose , they are both clean and clear,,I was expecting to see a check valve on the end of the hose, but there was nothing,,,there is no mention of a valve in my repair manual, so I was wondering if our vans just weren’t equipped with a check valve, or someone has removed it,,,let me know if you have one,,,thanks,,,
