Default Sudden Drop in RPM and power

Hello from sunshine state. 2000 Dodge van 3500 V8 5.9L 130.000 miles

Brand new battery rode like a dream for a 3 hour trip then suddenly boom. RPM dropped engine light on and No Buss for seconds then back to normal.

Today it went off again no warning, Pulled aside waited few after few tries of no start than back to normal.

Am I looking at PCM 100% ?

Could be any sensor on the 5 volt bus..... figuring out which one is the problem is the fun part.... being intermittent like that... going to be beyond difficult. Are there any codes?

Default No codes

No there is no codes I can detect but going to try another device to detect codes.

When it dies the rpm and cluster just goes dead and the miles flash and display No Bus

Yeah, the cluster on yours gets all its information via the communications bus. Which is what is going away..... Sometimes, the engine will still run just fine, just, no gauges....

It sure sounds like just a bad connection somewhere though. May not hurt to go thru the connectors, make sure they are clean, and making good contact. There ARE a LOT of them though.... so, time consuming/tedious project....

Since the PCM is a common issue on these vans would you recommend changing it as a start ?

Remove and reinstall the connectors on the PCM. Sometimes that's all it takes to make the connections good again.

Makes sense. I will be spraying electric cleaner on connections as well. My concern is I can not risk the possibility of the van just shutting off while driving again.

Is there a way to test the PCM itself or perhaps run codes ?

No way to test the PCM, other than 'real world' testing. I.E. Driving it.....

New PCM it is.

Any other suggestions beside tracking wires and cleaning Connections?

Should I also change the TPS, Crank shaft sensor and Intake sensor ? They are very cheap. Will that be ideal and recomneded ?

For the critical sensors, crank being right at the top of that list, you want ONLY Genuine Mopar sensors. These trucks don't play nice with the aftermarket fellers.
