You’re going through and replacing the pulleys for lighter weight ones to improve performance? Love the extra room with the mechanical fan and shroud removed.
With the dual fans are you doing anything to increase alternator output? See my posts on alternator selection as I *think* I may be seeing my battery discharging at long idles on my Ford pickup.
They are not only lighter, but are under driven to free up more horsepower and look so much better. I had no issue on my Ford van that the fans came off of and it had the same under drive pulleys on it.
What voltage are you seeing on the pickup and why do you think it is discharging?
On my ford truck, with a new battery, I see the battery gauge bouncing on the dash a little when I was sitting idling for a long time at a drive through. It was at least 10 minutes. Drove home and it was good while driving. Parked. No issue with AC off (presumably the fans were off). AC on and it started wobbling again. Haven’t gotten a multimeter on it yet.
Interesting. And here I am thinking I need a smaller diameter pull on my alternator.
@jeffersonracing , I’m sorry if I took over your post. To answer your question/statement, the fan would have been on constant since the AC was on. The battery meter on the dash was bouncing at like 1-2 hz or so…

The smaller pulley goes on the crank, so, for each revolution of the crank, it doesn't move the belt as far. Putting a smaller pulley on the alternator as well, will keep the alt spinning near stock speeds, which is really what you want anyway, otherwise, it tends to not charge at low RPM.

Not sure how your fan operates, but this fan is activated any time the compressor is kicked in, if I did the wiring for it. The compressor also cycles on and off.
Thought I would include a picture of Christmas goodies for the van, and just a note for those looking to replace your headlights. The depot brand is one I would avoid. I was thinking the headlight would just remove from the bracket and plug into the stock location. Wrong. You will need to get a set where the ears that stick up and release the lens are there. The depo units didn't have that. I ended up and got some TYC units which release like the stock headlights and while I am at this point hoping they plug right in the stock bracket, but it has been so cold there is no way I'm going to find out for a couple of days anyway.
Also got the March aluminum pulley for the power steering pump which will look alot better and be much lighter to boot.
