Default Air intakes

Do air intake kits increase MPG?

K&N advertises increased power, but not MPG.

How about exhaust kits?

New computers?

Would adding any/all increase MPG enough to offset the initial cost?

What is best bang for buck?

you drive a truck that avgs at best 16mpg, all the money you spend wont pay for itself until quite sometime down the road, so savings are minimal. changing your exhaust and intake will give you more power. i bought intake from AIR RAM and felt a nice pick up difference in the higher rpms matched with my dual exhaust compared to stock when i bought it, my mpg has gone up .6....so if your doin the mods for gas saving purposes, youre wasting your time and money.

I totally agree. When shopping for my intake and exhaust, I justified the purchases by saying they would save me money on gas. LIAR!!! In reality, I wanted the upgrade in power and the roar from accelerating. You do get these, but the gas mileage increase has yet to show. I recommend adding an intake and exhaust, but not for MPG purposes.

I think that's gonna be my excuse for getting a cold air intake (if i do end up getting one)......i'll just say it's for better MPG...but we know what it's really for.

lol no bigger wheels do not give your truck aerodynamics , but in her mind they do .!.!.!.!

If I was getting 16 MPG I would be in heaven. The best I ever got was 14 all hiway. Since I drive 90% city, I AVG around 10..

Now that my one-way commute is going from 3 to 17 miles it is going to make a huge difference if I keep this beast...

I FILLED UP YESTERDAY AND GOT 13.9 THATS ABOUT 50/50 CITY HIGHWAY. I WANT THE MODS TO, MORE FOR INCREASED TORQUE TO PULL THE RACE TRAILER. IF HP AND MILEAGE COME ALONG WITH IT , IT'S JUST A PLUS.

funny... I've heard more women say the opposite... that someone driving a big truck/Corvette/Camaro/Ricer is trying to over compensate for a small dick.
