Default Ram Hemi vs Non Hemi....?

Why would anyone buy a new Ram Truck without the Hemi. I know the Hemi is about a grand more but isnt it worth it?

Please post the pros and cons! Thanks!

What is the difference in gas mileage ... 1 mpg?

If so, give me the power! lol

Besides, who buys a truck for the mpg...if you do go Diesel!

What would you do to get 600 hp? How much would it cost? Any websites to check out?

Crazy as it may sound, I wanted a manual transmission more than I wanted a Hemi - more fun to drive.

I think most people who don't get a Hemi do so because of price. Yes a Hemi is a "low price option" but many include the Hemi with other options driving the price up considerably; couple that with the crazy incentives out there and it becomes worth it to buy a truck on the lot without the hemi.

The list on my truck was close to $23,000. I got it for roughly 13,000. It's hard to look down your nose at a brand new Ram for $13,000!

thirty thousand dollars for a regular truck is a lot of dough. i agree with redram, manual tranny is more important to me than more ponies. if i wanted power i'd have gotten a diesel. i would love to have an 05 cummins but the initial cost is tripple that of what i can afford.

stock I'm getting around 16-18. the hemi's get around 12-14.

right now the module that has the most talk is the Quadzilla box. the race version adds 140more hp and 220tq for about $550. stock hp is 325 and tq is 600. so setting it to the highest setting will get you ~465hp and ~820 tq. then there are KAX injectors, the best one IMO. a set will run you around $600 and give you 80hp and 130 tq. so with the quad box and injectors your looking at ~540hp and 950tq. so for under $1200 one has just added 220 hp and 350lb-ft tq. for cheap you can get a different compressor houseing on the turbo and add a few ponies.

just look around the TDR website I have linked in my siggy and go the the competition threads in the forum.

oh, BTW. if I were to add the injectors or put a box on low or mid settings I would actualy improve my fuel mileage

Thanks for the info. I will look at the TDR site. I have to admit I am too lazy for a stick shift

not a problem. there are many mods that can be done to the 48RE so it can handle that kind of power and still live a good life.

stock the 48RE can only hold about 400hp and 700tq. the NV5600 that I have can handle about 800ft-lb. HP isnt too much of a problem with this tranny since it is so beefy. the only problem is the torque and holding power of the clutch.
