Default UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

There is a guy that I work with that has an 03 quad cab with the 4.7 in it. He had a problem with it a couple of weeks ago and had to take the truck to the dealer. His check guages light came on and his oil pressure guage was jumping back and forth. Turns out the engine had sludge and god knows what kinda build up in the engine. The guy told me that out of the 31000 miles he has on the truck, he only changed the oil 3 times! What a dope!!!

If he had used synthetic oil (Mobil 1/Amsoil) he could of gotten away with that, but with regular dino oil, that's what happens!! [sm=smiley5.gif]

dustylions is right, with synthetic oil it is possible. I used to do that with my 88 blazer, I only changed the oil twice a year while using mobile 1.

That's odd considering the owners manual only recomends changing the oil every 7500 miles. 10,000 isn't that much over the recomended.

A lot depends on the quality of the oil he was using as well. A low quality, bargin priced oil is going to screw up your engine after 10,000 miles...[sm=smiley5.gif]

bargain oil...such as napa oil or champion auto oil is the same as valvoline....there really are not any "bargain" oils anymore....the non brands are just the same....at least in what i have seen and learned

I'm talking about brands like "Gold Star" that they sell in Texas for about 49 cents a quart. I don't even think it has an API rating...[sm=smiley5.gif]
