Default AirRaid M.I.T. Install with pics

$100 online, replaces the air resonator box, uses stock filter box. Havent really noticed any additional intake noise.

That's about as "cold" as it can get short of cutting a larger hole in the inner fenderwell. The stock box does a fair job of getting cold air. The tube should smooth the flow a bit, and may help the HP on a Hemi.

I havent see the inside of the Hemi resonator box, but if its the same as the 4.7L, there is no air directing just a "blob" of air getting shoved into it. The tube straightens the air out giving it a more efficient flow. I can feel the "seat of the pants" torque and the gas mpg when up about 1 mpg. I get on average 13.7mpg with short trips (2-3miles) and hilly as hell roads back and forth to work. Havent had any chance for highway testing. As compared to the so called "CAI" out there that dont have a heat shield the plastic versus metal tubes keeps it cooler. I have touched a friends with the metal tube and almost burned a fingerprint onto it. He has gotten insulation on the tube and runs better now. Also one good thing about this is that I can add on the filterbox replacment later so I dont have to lay out close to $300 at once. And I think that the top of the engine now is more open, it has a better chance to dissipate the heat more. I also noticed that the intake manifold looks like composite, so I dont think that it will make much of a distance.

I also noticed that there was a black oily soot around the butterfly. I have heard people with the K&N dropins like I got having the same. I think I am going to try a paper filter and see if it comes back.

The whole idea was to get rid of the engine cover. The is no air flow help in it. I figured that there would be some kind of baffling system to quieten down the intake noise, but there usn't. I finally got the silicone coupler on there and took off the accordian tube that I was using til I got it right

there is no air flow help but it doesn't hold it back. i rather have my truck looking stock instead of having an import intake look. no offense ram it but, the tube straight to the throttle body is just not my taste. plus the volant has a cool looking cold box.

I was thinking about the volant, but its the box that tuirned me off. I was thinking of replacing the top of the volant box with plexiglass and give it more of a custom look. The k&n has more filter area so it should last longer before cleaning. But then I can do the complete cold filter and heat shield setup addons without having to shell out $300 at once. Seems no matter what we do there is no helping gas milage. Too bad I didnt research the dodges more before buying it used. I figured it would atleast get 15mpg. But getting a 1 year old truck with 9000 miles on it and a 8 year warranty for $20k, I couldnt pass up the deal. I guess I just get myself a beater for the daily work commute. And as always there I never take offense. Opionins are like buttholes, everyone has one. Some just stink hahahahhaa
