Hi I just bought a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Xcab with 81k miles, No Warenty. Looks and runs great, cept only driven 200 miles Hwy - and Check Engine Light came on.
Am I in Trouble? Is there a way I can get the code or do I need to take it to a dealer?
Thanks,
ghanlon

do a search on the web for fault codes & you should be able to find a list of them... I did this morning & found them pretty easily...
Oh yeah, if you ad pt cruiser to your search criteria should narrow it down. The list was for all dodge & chryslers.

Thanks Steve,
I check around and found 441 is "Evaporative purge flow system not working properly"
Anyone dealt with this before? Is it expensive or dificult to replace or correct?
Thanks,
g

had something similar on my 02 Durango.....
the MIL kept turning on at highway speeds and the computer kept setting an Evap system error code (don't remember the number).
The tech insisted I wasn't putting my gas cap on right....
The next weekend I did some looking under the hood and found two split evap hoses -
One a couple of inches from where it connects to the TB and one where it connected to the purge canister.
Replaced the split hoses and never saw the light again.
it's a thought....
good luck!

I tightened my gas cap and reset the light. I made it almost 200 miles and my light is back ARGGGG. I have not had the time to look at my hoses yet. I may end up just taking it in somewhere to have a real mech correct for me.
