Wouldn't long headers be more ideal? I mean, unless you really race all the time and need the high-RPM torque, long headers will give you the low-RPM torque that is ideal in trucks.

Yes, but depending on what truck you have, there may not be long tubes available (4x4 tucks for example). The longest ones that are available (more of a mid lenght header) are super expensive.
