Default hesitation

car 1992 rt non T 150k miles.

car hesitates when cold.
car stutturs at any given time any given speed, not bad but noticable.
i stood on the gas to merge into traffic it stuttered and backfired.
whats wrong and how to fix.

mine has been doing the same thing, but its a turbo car. i think it might be the ecu with the leaky capacitors.

the car is only doing it sometimes not all driving.

if it is the ecu then you can go on 3si.org and there are people that will fix them for about $250 from what i have read. if you want to know if it is the ecu then remove it and see if the caps were leaking.

A faulty ECU can cause a host of problems. If you have a first gen car that hasn't had the capacitors replaced, chances are that could be the problem. It is not a matter of if, but when. ECMTOGO.com will get you fixed up for about $250.

Before jumping to conclusions though, have you checked the plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter? Any of those will cause hesitations.

with my car its more as if it has a dead spot. right before the boost or while im on around 3 psi (acording to the stock gauge). i have feeling it is the ecu considering the car is a first gen and i dont thing they were replaced.

recent total tune up
trans rebiult 9 monthe ago
general maintenance otherwise
