We just changed the battery in our 2000 stratus and then needed to get an emisions test. the comunist at the test station said he could not even test it utill i got the "codes" reset. I'm not taking it to a dealer. Help please.

What are the codes first of all? I know you need to drive the car for 50 miles before you can have a smog test done.

 

I called a dealer that was cool enough to tell me the same thing. "drive it for 100 or so miles to reset whatever need reseting." I will follow up after I try to get it tested tomorrow.

300 miles and still wont test. It gets rejected. This test, the state of wisconsin, is crap.

 

Is the check engine light on? And if so what are the codes.

 

No lights on and my friend has a "code reader" and it says everything is working.??? The DMV's equipment just keeps saying rejected.

I'm sure i could take it to a dealer and pay a million $ for them to analize it but I don't have a cool million right now.

 

Are they telling you why it is being rejected?

 

the DMV says the sensors are not re-setting.
