From what I can see three of the plugs are exposed and three are under the intake manifold.


How much time/money does it cost to replace the three under the manifold.

Why the hell would an car designer make something as simple as replacing spark plugs so difficult.



For now I just replaced the three (they were in bad shape) I can get to but I dont want to get charger 75 labor an hour to replace three $2 parts.


Anyone know of a cheaper/easyer way to do it?

 

You don't have to remove it completely, just remove enough to raise it. Replace the wires at the same time and use the Iridium plugs. Took me 3 hours.

 

correct...all you "need" to do is gain access to the plug area, and have enough room to pull the plug boots out, as wel as get an extension down in there....3 hours is about right...[:@]

 

Question:
In lifting the manifold, are you damaging any gaskets or seals that should be replaced?

I'm about to tackle this task myself soon.

none were replaced on mine when it was done...

 

I thought so, thank god plugs last a good while.

 

What brand do you recommend? Is it true that 'performane' plugs hurt gas mileage?

 

It's got a metal gasket, so you should be OK.

 

i dont know that any plugs for your/our car will hurt mileage...i have NGKs in my car.

 

The guy at Auto Zone said the Bosch plugs killed Mileage. So I wanted a second oppinion.
