Which would be the Faster Car?
Theory means nothing. Besiade the Viper would fall apart before that speed. Apparently all that matter is it is the fastest thing on earth to some people. So show me that your cars can take John Force's car..... See where I am going with this? To included modded aftermarket cars is ridiculous! You can not account for everything out there. Fastest production car however, that is a verifiable stat.
Technically, a Hennessey Viper is just a post production car, and not really "modded"... It's being built and sold to consumers... It's not being privately modded...
BTW... Is John Force's car street legal?????????????????? hmmm????????????
BTW again... we're not talking about Linginfelter's and John Force cars... We're talking about 3 specific cars....
Hennessey Viper (atleast it's post production, being sold to consumers)
Corvette C6-R (not production)
Mercedes SLR McLaren (ummmmm)

Yeah is john force car street legal, so far the vipers ive shown have been street legal. If you like I can go beyond that. How does 2000 horsepower sound. I doubt the viper would fall apart when it handles 255mph just fine.

And to compare cars that arent even available on the street is ridiculous....as the C6-R is all motor and is a racing car.....so you cant even compare that car to the other two....

It is NOT and I repeat, NOT a production car. The same applies to Lingenfelter, Shelby, and Saleen model cars. There have been a few exceptions....but they were usually bought by an aftermarket company i.e Shelby and then modded....and then sold.
The Yenko Camaro was never a production car, and was available only as a modded car. Even still, it was purchased by an aftermarket modder and built up and then resold.
It is not a production car. As stated before it is a aftermarket add on, kit, whatever you want to call it. Sure Hennessry can number them, that does not make it a production car, it is a aftermarket car, plain and simple.
Now, if DC were to offer it as a package, like Pontiac did with the WS6 Firebird in 96/97, it would then be a production car as everything is ordered from DC and would prbably have a special name, like a Viper XYZ. Back in 96 and 97 Pontiac would take an order for a WS6, but they did not install the WS6 package. It would go from the factory to SLP to the dealer and it was all on the Pontiac window sticker. Whereas DC is not going to send your Viper to Hennessey, nor are they going to put his add ons on their window sticker, nor are they going to warranty ANYTHING on that car once John touches it. You have John upgrade it AFTER you pay DC for a new Viper, hense AFTER-market.
If you can show me, on the DC window sticker a Hennessey installed twin turbo option I will drop my it is not a production car comment.
J as for your comment... the drag car is not street legal..... You are using the same basis for a arguement I am. You are saying since it is not in the same "class" you can not compare. WOW, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!! That is why I brought up John Force's car in the first place, to get the street legal comment, thanks by the way! Now, using the same basis for an arguement, my arguement was you can not compare the Hennessey to a production car, they are not in the same "class". One is modded, the other is a stock production car. So in essense what you are saying is a production car and a modded car are in the same "class"? That is obviously not true.
I think this is some of the problem, some die hard Viper guys are a bit irratated that Chevy finally built a Vette that is slightly faster (and slightly cheaper) than a stock Viper and DC is going to take a couple years to catch up. Therefore the hardcore Viper guys bring Hennessey and aftermarket upgrades into the mix, sorry, does not hold water with me. Those same hardcore guys a couple years ago would not even listen to Vette owners when they brought up Lingenfelter. Maybe they need to look in the mirror. If anything the hardcore guys should applaude Chevy, it will just push everything to a new level.
With all this said I am done posting in this thread, I can only express my opinion and facts of what is a production car vs. a modded aftermarket car so many times before it gets old. I will allow the debate to go on as long as we are all playing nice.
Have fun!

I know this is not part of this but it deals with the viper. I just read from my Automobile magazine August 2006. The corvette z07 or blue devil is using the 7.0 liter ls7 v8 and increasing displacement and adding a supercharger to it.[&:] That will increase horsepower by 145. Which is the same as the new 2008 viper. (650)
The z07 is expected to come out in 2008 at 100,000. It will be interesting to see how the viper will match up considering it dosent have a supercharger.
