The only way to tell if it is unlocked is to power it up by plugging it in to your OBD port or you can power it up with the DAQ cable. Once it is powered up the first screen will tell you if it is locked. With all that said, I would personally pass on a 3815. You are not going to get any of the new features that I am currently beta testing. Believe me, you will want these features, they are awesome.

This is the way I look at it. If you buy a 3815, the features that it curretly has is all that it will ever have. It is never going to get any of the new features. However, if you buy a 3865 or 3950 you will still get all the same features you would get with the 3815 but you will also have the option to get the new features when they are released. It is basically like making an investment in your future so that you have a tuner that will give you more than just the basic features.

The next time I see one at a good price I will let you know. They do pop up from time to time on this forum and others.

Yes, I would say between $250 and $275 at this point.
