Sorry about the double post, but this is a new topic.. I have a rattling / clunking sound when I hit a bump or pothole. I can't find any play in the components while the truck is on the ground. I was hoping it was a sway bar end link, but does not appear to be. I plan to jack the truck up and see what I can find, but it is still cold and raining outside.

Anyone have some tips or see something that looks wrong?

check the ball joints. mine kept popping loose when we were doing my leveling kit. we got done and i got into the truck to back it out and the driver side ball joint on the upper control arm popped back into place and we had to re tighten the nut on the bottom. does the axle look outa place or is it just me?

Snow pics ha they should be ICE pics LOL I'm in chicago and we just have ICE.
Anyways you really need to jack it up and look at it then Also when you jack it up you need to go under the lower A arm so.. then check it then tie rods upper and lower ball joints... Hope you find it If you need any parts Orielly's sells MOOG witch are grease able that is your best route..

Also in you picture of the drivers side at the lower ball joint. The spindle is hitting the lower A arm is that the bump stop that don't seem right normally that is a bolt that hits the rear side of the A arm and If the other side is hitting its out of adjustment... Might be a tie rod end inner or outer..... If some one can explain it better then I can please feel free to help me out.. I know what i would need to fix it and how but explaining it over the key board not my strong suite......

I can't find any extra play near the ball joints or tie rod ends. I lifted the truck and set it on 2 jackstands, shook the tires up and down and back / forth. I used a pry bar to lift the wheels up and down and listen & look for slop but having trouble finding it.

Not sure where in the pic you are talking about the lower A arm hitting something. There is clearance near the shock and the sway bar link. The tie rods don't bump when hard steering either way.

Asphalt: How else do I check the ball joints?
