The 287 crew...
Yeah you got it JusJay
You put a resistor inline on your "IAT" (Intake Air Temp) + wire to trick the computer into thinking it's cooler outside then it really is. Makes the Throttle a little more responsive...
That's all the "Power Wire" is, an in-line resistor. The big difference is the cost. The power wire is $59.95..... A 50 assortment of resistors from Radio Shack is $5 and you get to choose the amount of drop you want.
In my situation I had to buy the resistors anyway for some other projects I was doing including the install of my Viper 5901 Remote Start alarm. Once I got the viper installed I spent about an hour with my scanner doing the mod to the IAT.... I dropped mine about 28 degrees so now it's telling the PCM that my intake air temp is about 10 degrees below ambient temp... another words it's no longer seeing the heat under the hood.
Nothing against the Power wire, the power wire is perfect for somebody who wants an easy plug and go mod and don't mind spending $50+
However if you have access to an OB2 scanner to read the IAT temp it's a very simple do-it-yourself mod and can easily be done for under $7.
Cheers

Does anyone here know if the 3.7l to a 4.7l swap difficult??? i know that all the brackets are almost the same and have heard that the transmission should bolt on without any hassle..
not positive but anything is possible i mean a guy put a cummins in where a hemi once was not to long ago........johnnysart did i dont know how to make animated ones yet so i wont try but i do make fantasy type graphics.....
I don't really know what the stores sell it for...I buy mine direct from the Orlando Amsoil Warehouse and they ship it to me (I could go pick it up but it would cost me more in gas then the $9 shipping to drive over there so I just let them ship it to me.)
You can go to https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/de...spx?zo=1835883 and get current pricing... Just go look up what you want and add it to the cart...
This should give you the pricing currently in effect.
There's only one store here that offers it and it's Napa and they sell it for $8.00+ a quart. I know I can get it and sell it lower then that so I don't bother with Napa.
Let me know what prices you get and I'll see how much cheaper it is if I order it myself...
The last time I checked, the Amsoil site was over $1.25 a qt. cheaper then my local Napa store.
BTW, to save you some hunting....Your Oil Filter number is Ea042...
I'm thinking about putting the Oil Filter relocation kit on mine and moving the oil filter to right behind the grill to make it easier to get too, and put the filter in the air flow to cool it somewhat.

Ok... That's cool, just let me know... If I can help I will.
I'm not sure how long your running on Mobil 1 between changes but with Amsoil oil and filter you can go one year or 25,000 miles....I don't do it but they do guarantee it in writing
I run the Amsoil in my truck 5000 miles, the Grand Marquis 7500 miles (its my work car) and the Expedition 5000 miles....
I used to use Mobil 1 as well but after switching I became hooked on Amsoil. I saw an immediate 2 mpg increase in our Grand Marquis.... My Wife's Expedition saw about 1 mpg improvement however her SUV currently has 213,000 miles on it so the engine isn't exactly new. It did quiet the engine down allot and It does still have the original engine and transmission in it with no rebuilds... everything is original.
I've used Amsoil in it since it had 54,000 miles on it...
Here's a current picture of it..... It's really clean and runs great for 13 yrs old.

So let me know if there is anything I can do to help....
Jess
