2003 Rams - The Forgotten Club
Installed the Magnaflow High Flow Cat. After cutting the OEM cat and looking at it side by side with the new cat I almost decided to stick it back in. The OEM cat is bigger around giving more surface area than the new cat. But it is also longer making the exhaust travel further in the restrictive honeycomb. Also, the honeycomb was slightly smaller than the new cat. So with that all said they are probably equal in ability to flow. I did accomblish moving the cat to behind the cross member. So I am hoping the LT's will be a easier install. Too hot to make a run. But I don't think there will be a gain. The exhaust note is louder, but not by much. Oh well, sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I think this time it might be a break even.
Update: Took Red out for some fun. Still hot but what the heck. Disappointing, The Magnaflow 3" in/out High Flow doesn't do as well as the stock OEM 3" in/out Cat. 0-60 mph times dropped to 6.23 where I had run 5.88 with the stock cat. Can't see were moving the cat back toward the muffler would have been the problem, so it comes down to the Cat itself. So I'll mod the OEM cat to be a true 3" in/out and re-install it when I do the headers.

Hey we got action in the forgottens, keep goin Red, your in the 5's now.
Since I posted my last been thinking about the gears, am leaning heavy now on 4:56's but want to find out what the revs would be at 80 MPH because right now it's just a tad under 2 grand, so at the end of the day if I'm reving 2500 at 80 MPH it will be a tad louder and perhaps I can slow down to the speed limit and maybe hit the sweet 2200 spot, never the less if I go 4;10's and regret it I'll be the laughing stock.
So ya I know, Quad-Cab, Heavy,,,,etc,,,etc, and if I change my mind (weekly) about ldoing a lift-kit later and 35's I'll be good to go, so enough said, will amend my sig.
Thanks for the comments on the rear paint. Its somewhere on page 4 or 5 by now and only 4 people of over 100 that looked had anything to say so thanks guys.
I confirmed my membership at the Auto-Club today and will try and get the torque converter in Fri- or Saturday, they got Hoist, and tranny jack and I have an assistant lined up (LOL, The Cheif Cook Sargeant Major who drives an 03 Heritage F-150 with the Mustang Motor, his data log was a 7.01 so he has given his respect to the Hemi and wants to learn more).

Ok all, I put in two 12" kickers with an amp under the rear seat this weekend...thumps pretty good. I'll be getting new speakers soon so should I just replace the infinity ones in the doors or go the extra step and wire the new speakers to the amp? If I should run to the new amp how do I do that?
Been a while for me but I can say it will be some work taking stuff apart to run new lines through to those door speakers or find where they stock wires run under the carpet and tap in for hook-up to the Amp (not sure) or do you run cables from the amp up to the stereo? Never the less its a big job IMO but sounds like you put in some time already. I think AF is doing some kind of stereo mods right now too. Upgrading the door speakers is a start and will give you time to scope out what hooking into that Amp involves.
I'm interested in what you think with the new TC. Not knowing how far you are going with your truck. I'm not sure a TC is always the best mod. Gears on the other hand are good for everyone. I know you are excited. Good Luck with it.
Gears, Smears, they will be saved for last which will make it over the top...
Update well glad you asked. I missed signing out the keys by 10 minutes which put a 3 hr delay on starting the job today as we had to wait for a honda pce chit to get a new cv put in....so we started at 1 Pm and finished tonight at around 8 Pm. Total time to do the job was approx 6 hrs as we spent an hour cleaning the shop and took a break to get a coffee. Anyhow the TC is in and no problems to report. tommorrow I will recheck the fluid level and warm her up, re-tune and do a data run (but I have honey do chores first..LOL). All I can say is there is definately a difference in the response of this truck and on the way home I give it a med shot of gas to get her up to about a 5 grand shift in D and I'll tell ya there was no F***en around, definately noticeable gain in acceleration quickness....whooooo.ooo. So tired..bagged with report back tommorrow. BTW I got a ton of pics but gotta set-up a photo bucket thing. I do not plan on doing a DIY as thats been done already but will may show the important points that I noticed when you through in the 4x4 Transfer Case to the equasion and torsion bar 1500 model rear frame I managed to leave intact coupled with minimal exhaust disassembly. Nite Nite fellows.
