That's why it is looking different. Where is the electrical box with the bolt in the middle of the cover?

Stopped at the dealer to specifically ask if they could adjust a 03 rev limiter and speed restricter. The answer is no.

Default performace problems

I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7 4x4. I noticed a lack of power and poor performance. I'm also getting poor gas mileage, it went from 14 MPG to 4-5 MPG. Any ideas? What's causing this problem. I'm not getting any problem readings.

I got one for you guys!!

I bought a truck finally!! Yea!! its a 2003 5.7L HEMI, guy I bought from said the engine got damaged shortly after him getting it, he then was able to pick up another 5.7L HEMI but it was out of a 2005, but the mechanic did the "general install" and it runs, but there is a sensor at the front of the motor that is not plugged in and there is no harness to connect to it either. The check engine light is on, the electronic throttle light is on, and the truck does not shift into overdrive. Sounds like it's in total limp home mode. Can anyone help me out so I can get this truck sorted out and running right, I want to DRIVE it, but it's sitting because I want to fix it first before damaging anything. ANY help is MUCH appreciated.

Welcome to the Forgotten's. You have a unque opportunity to really get to know your truck. The simplest way is to keep the truck as a 03 and use the original PCM/TCM. Download a 03 manual and identify the electrical plugs not connected. Basically converting the 05 engine to the 03 sensors. I don't think MDS came out until 06 so that shouldn't be a concern. Just track everything down and make sure it is plugged in. Then you will probly need to take it to the dealer and have the PCM/TCM cleared and reflashed. Keep us posted. Just treat the 05 engine as if it was a 03 as far as connecting everything up. Good luck..

im assuming he used the '05 wiring harness also. if thats the case you're kinda SOL. there are extra wires in the '05. You'd be better off changing to an 05 PCM. that will also require a few other changes as well. Guys have been trying the 03 to 05 conversion for a while and no one has done it yet

It comes down to you either treat the engine as a 03 or you treat the truck as a 05. Which ever is easier for you is the way I would recommend. Although keep in mind there is much more support for the 05 PCM than there is for the 03. So if the direction you take is a toss up, go with the 05 PCM. If the 03 wiring harness is intact go with the 03 PCM. Good luck....
