I'm not for sure, but I believe you can turn the key on-off-on-off-on (thats 3 cycles, sometimes it takes 4 or 5 cycles, depending on the car I guess, "on" does NOT mean start). the odometer should give you a reading. Match what it says to codes given here.
Alternativly, you can take it to most many auto parts store, which can hook up their code reader for free.
Post back with results (the code you get).

Hmm.. tighten your gas cap! lol... seriously though, the MIL light can come on for a gas cap that is not on good enough (and sometimes people spend hundreds of dollars come to find out either their gas cap isn't on tight enough, or their $10 gas cap is "faulty")
But, of course, before you buy any part, go go Autozone or some place and get the codes read.

You're short one on/off there

Turn the ignition key until the digital odometer displays, repeat three times in succession and then back to "On" (On/Off, On/Off, On/Off, On). At the fourth "On" the odometer will be replaced with codes. If no codes are present then "Done" will appear.
If that doesn't work, head to Autozone and have your codes read for free

Figures, I'm used to the old OBD systems, where you count the flashes.
