I need some help guys and gals.. My truck has thrown the check engine light and when it gets ran on a diagnostic, it says the left bank is to rich.. Ok here is another thing the check engine light stays on and every once in a while the lightning bolt light will flash on and then go off right away.. I have to two foot it to keep it running, and if im at a light long enough the truck will take like 5 to 10 seconds to get off the line.. Now when i get up to cruising speed (45-60mph) the truck runs fine and is very responsive like it should be but it shakes like i dont know what... I need some HELP PLEASE!!!!!! Thanks for any suggestions...

 

hey can you tell me the exact code #. The lightning bolt it a sign that your electronic throttle control has a problem. (your truck doesn't have a throttle cable) Mine did the same thing but my cruise control didn't work and i couldn't acc. up hills intermintently. the dealer replaced the brake switch

 

well i dont know the exact code# but i can see if i can get it so what are you thinkin it is the electronic throttle control??

 

part of the problem could be the ETC because of the lightning bolt, but I don't think that would cause your other problem. If you can get the code # that would help. Autozone does that for free. Does the CEL light flash when the engine is running bad? How many miles do you have?

 

yea i am going to autozone tomorrow to get the code # but the CEL is on all the time now its the lightning bolt that keeps flashing on and off.. see i put the tranny in tow/haul mode to keep the rpms up so it wont die and it will run half way decent so yea i will repost the code tomorrow and let you know what that is and ihave 76,500 on it right now they are all highway miles

ok now what do i do. his computer also said the mass air could be bad.. But i was told by a dodge tech that those motors are not mass air they are speed density so im lost now any help is greatly appreciated...

 

alright i did some readin in my owners manual and its telling me that my electronin throttle control is bad or needs some work anyone know what that might run cuz the dealer has to do it anyone know what this might cost

 

those motors are speed density. means they use a map sensor to monitor baro reading. they calculate the amount of air that is incoming so the pcm can adjust the air fuel ratio. the ETC problem i am not sure of. The motors for the throttle control are very expensive,but rarely go bad. Real common problem is the brake switch. The rich codes i need to do some checking on. Give me a day or so. I will check into at work tomorrow.

 

thanks man im gonna do some callin to a couple dealerships around here tomorrow morning i have to get this fixed cuz im gonna sell it i need a diesel for the line of work im in, the truck pulls our trailer fine but im gonna be puttin alot of miles on and i love the 7.3 powerstrokes so thats my problem i just need to get this fixed and it sucks that i have to put alot of money into this one and im just gonna end up sellin or tradin it in but thanks for your help man if you want my email is Stangman2305@yahoo.com if you want to talk like that but it doesnt matter to me but thanks again man
