I have two modifications I am currently wanting to begin. First one is pretty simple. Ordered new shift **** for my 5-speed dakota 3.9. Does anyone know how to remove the factory ****? Also, wanting to do some custom painting on some interior pieces. How exactly do you remove the air vents etc.? Thanks for any help guys and gals. Hope to get a reply soon, thanks a bunch</P>

i helped my friend put a shift kit in his 99 mustang and all we did was screw it if i believe.. mind you its not easy but i think thats what we did. I think there are screws to take the dash off but if you are really stuck i bet the service manual would have something in about taking them off

i dont know jack about dakotas, but i do know that i love the haynes
books you can buy at autozone or pepboys or what ever you got near you.
they make one for most year and model vehicles and show you step by
step how to strip down your entire car from every bolt to every screw.
they have come in real handy for me, i need to get one for my
truck

But just to let you know you might want to get some plasti-prep to get all the preservatives and everything out of the plastic otherwise the paint will blister or not adhere at all, a really really good rubbing alchohol or some 151 will work too
