Sh*t, nothing fits in that garage, it's actually my parents house (or was, when my mom got cancer, after my step dad's stroke and I moved here, the house got put in my name) I had a 2600 sq. ft. house in GA, and after the divorce the ex got a 1 bedroom condo, so all my stuff is stuffed in a 10x20 storage bin and shoved in that garage. I can barely walk through the thing...

She kept the '02 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 Sport, I kept my truck. So I just took my a$$ out and got a '02 Grand Cherokee Overland. I need two V8 4x4's like I need a hole in the head, but I showed her...

So Ramsey, hows that old GC running, you figure anything out? I still say a TPS will fix the problems you thought were tranny. When it comes to tune up time, let me know, I'll tell you (after having five 4.0 I6's) how to eek out a little more performance & mpgs without any real mods, just the right brand/type of tune up parts...

Well i figured out it is the TPS. i had disconnected it, cleared the code and everything worked EVEN THE CRUISE AND OD but after it knowticed it wasent connected it was back to square 1. so friday its getting a new tps. thats all it needs. then its time to start planning mods, as far as tune up it just had one b4 i got it.

I've never really modded any of my 4.0's. Engine performance wise, anyway. I've lifted the Wranglers and stuff like that, but three of the GC's were the ex's daily drivers and the current GC is mine. Just mainly K&N drop ins for a little better breathing and I did a cat back on the '98, but after it was given to my mother because the salt air in Fl. finally got the muffler & tail pipe. The 4.7 H.O. has a lot of things stock that I'd do such as better intake, cam, lifters, valves, etc. above what the standard 4.7 ships with, so there's not a lot to do with it.
I'll tell you this though, the 4.0's LOVE Bosch Platinum Plugs and thicker wires. The Hemi hates the Boschs' btw, but the 4.0 accelerates better and gets about 1.5 better mpgs with them for some reason. And don't open up the breathing a lot, maybe just a good aftermarket drop in and a cat-back at most. The 4.0 has some really decent low end torque for what it is, but it must really rely on backpressure for it, because if you completely open it up, you may gain a little mid/high HP & a tad better gas mileage, but you completely kill the low end...

hmm, well sounds like a cold air kit and cat back is basicly all i need, im not looking for alot of power just knowledge if i need it its there, i've heard a few 4.0s with a flowmaster 40 or mangnaflow cat back and they sound pretty good. especally with the magnaflow cat. i was thinking on a 2-3in lift and some 31s

Yea, there are some really nice lifted ZJ's out there. Nobody seems to make a decent kit for my WJ though. Although the Overland has about an extra 1" of height due to the Up-Country Suspension.
I keep looking at things for it like a front winch mount (thinking of moving the winch from the truck to the GC and getting a bigger one for the truck), bigger & meatier tires, etc., but then I catch myself and say - "It's your daily driver and it's getting 20 mpg, you've got a lifted truck, don't f*ck with it"...
