Default Different wheels for Reliant

I just took ownership of an '87 Plymouth Reliant that will be my son's first car. I want to make it a cool car for him. Wheels will probably be the first change we do to it. I don't want to spend a ton on aftermarket wheels so i'd rather go to a salvage yard and get some stock type aluminum wheels off of something else but have no idea what would fit. Any help would be apreciated.

Check out these places as well, they will only show the wheels that will fit the selected vehicle and you can also preview them on the vehicle as well.

I really want to thank you guys for the information. The guys I work with think this is a dumb idea because "Fast &amp; Furious" cars are "supposed" to be newer import cars. If for nothing else I'd want to do this for my kid so he can laugh at the wanna-bes in their f&amp;f imitators that they have gobs of money in. I know that these 2.2 motors with a turbo could put a spanking on a lot of the wanna-bes around here. I want to do this on the cheap side mostly for kicks but also I'm afraid my kid will wreck his first car and i don't want to waste money on a newer vehicle.

Your welcome. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> The turbo cars do have quite a kick to them. But then again I can't really say too much on first cars and not getting one with lots of power, my Roadrunner was and is my first car. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"> <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley36.gif border="0">

I know not all first cars get wrecked, but some do. My first car was my dad's '73 Vega that couldn't even get out of it's own way. I promised my kid he wouldn't have something like that. But you have to understand that he used to race go-carts and I've seen him drive. EEEK!

I see. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> I never even had drivers ed. I got my license when I was 18, my parents couldn't afford the classes or a car for that matter. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley19.gif border="0"> The only reason that I got a car was because my dad had to sell the house and in an agreement between him and my mom, he would have to buy me a car since he never paid a dime in child support. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"> Oh well, I got the Roadrunner and my license shortly after that. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"> <edited><editID>71ROADRUNNER</editID><editDate>38017.0508217593</editDate></edited>

I know what you're sayin' with the parents splitting up. His mom and i split up when he was only 5 and I've tried to do everything to be a good dad. I just happen to have a little more money now than his mom soI'm taking it on myself to provide this for him. If it were up to his mom he'd never get driver's ed or a car. He used to race go-carts(but that ran out of money quick). We sold his go-cart and save money in his own bank account for a car and having this car given to us makes it easier to spend the money on building it up rather thanmaking payments on it.

There are a great many cheap options. First up are 15" "pizza" wheels. They are aluminum with pepperoni-like holes around the outside. Very common and you should be able to get a decent set for $50/set.

Next up is the lightweight and love em or hate em 15" "crab" wheels. $80/set

I personally have a set of 15" "lace" wheels for sale. They were found on lebaron GTS's, acclaims, dynastys, ect... $50/set, black aluminum.

The cadillac of k-car wheels are the 16" Pumpers. Offered on Daytona Shelbys, they are arguably the most popular and best looking wheels. If they have "CS" centercaps - $200 for a good set. I know someone who has a set for sale. Would make a reliant look 10x better.

16" 1st gen GTC lace. Look for a 89-90 Lebaron GTC for these fine looking wheels. I can get a set the needs paint (they're grey) for $80/set. Very strong wheels.

16" "fusion" as seen on my 92 GTC. These are rare it seems. A good set would go for $250.

There ya go, way less than any aftermarkets. Feel free to contact me at boogtc25@yahoo.com if you need pics or want to buy the above mentioned

Been a while since i posted. Got the Reliant running and got it home. It does need a water pump. Not bad cold, but when it heats to opperating temp, it squeels. Working on changing it(between 10 hour work days and cold weather) a little everyday. Never worked on a mopar engine before. Pretty simple and strait foreward. Everything is organized, Makes it like peeling an onion. A/C pump unbolted and off to left, aluminum bracket and alternater off to right, and there it is. Never seen a 2 piece water pump before Getting more famliar with this car. This will be a fun car, especially when i get around to installing a turbo motor(which I WILL do) This car is so clean(old lady owned) and plain looking that blowing away a Honda will be SOOOO much fun!!!
