COLD AIR INTAKE....???
Yeah You really dont need a cold air intake for an intercooled Turbo motor anyways... Save the extra Cash and go with the short ram whatever the brand... I have the AEM myself and I couldnt be happier!!
Dodge is supposedly still working on a Mopar CAI. I have been reading around the SRTForums about this. I dunno if it will ever come out. But people said like with the regular neon it took them forever to make.

The dyno results at Modern Performance are their own and they have dynoed both the K & N and the AEM CAI's. The last I had heard Mopar gave up on the CAI because they couldn't make one better performing than what was already on the market and they couldn't do it cheaper either. With the Mopar BOV, it is a very popular tuner item and it is far cheaper than the competition which is why they make it. And they're making a fortune off of it too, lots of people have it including us.
I picked the K & N Typhoon CAI since it had shown gains over the AEM as well as being dual purpose, it can be used as a CAI or as a short ram intake. To me K & N wins it twice and I absolutely love mine. Here is 2 pictures of mine, the first is a night shot of the K & N in short ram mode and the second is it's CAI mode:

post and doof do you have the CAI or short ram? i know people personally that have the aem and theres is dented from smacking the hood and the paint is chipped off.
Only gripe is tight fit between battery and intake. Never close to scratching hood.
Seems like there is variance in opinion. I wonder if there is some variance between different cars. I doubt that the intake changes from application to application. So fitment issues might just be on Dodge. I have seen a couple different battery terminal clamps out there. I wonder if there are different battery trays as well.

If I were in the market for a CAI, I would get the Mopar. Never heard of it? Right, because they don't make them for the SRT-4, although they make them for the regular Neon. However, they do make a high performance air filter for the SRT-4 along with K&N. I just find it strange that a company that will go out of it's way to market a $70 BOV that does nothing for performance would miss a chance to make a huge profit on a CAI. They're making big bucks off the Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades as well as the Mopar/Borla exhaust, why not carry that over to a CAI???? Are they "afraid" of K&N? I doubt it, they went toe-to-toe with them on the high perfromance air filter issue......something is not right here.....

good point and I totally agree... it does seem odd... hmmm?? and if they are still "testing" one... well, they are the slowest group of engineerings on the planet

also, to point out one of the other posts, a bigger diameter on the intake tube for the CAI will allow more air in possibly, but will slow the velocity of the air (think big water hose vs. little water hose... which has more "force" thru it?... exactly... the little one... I'd have to bust out the calculations, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually the same flow rate, one is just at a higher velocity... man, now I need my Fluids class again - hahaha... )
verry nice RR!!!!!!! I was also loking at k&n. how come you dont have a bypass on your intake?? water wont go in it?? does that cover actually works??. love the chrome... ohh another thing do you have two occ's cause i thought i saw two of them?? if so why two???
see posthondaremoval, you have a short ram from aem... the aem cai is what does damage. the extension tube hits the hood. so there is a difference thats why when i said cai i ment cai not ram.
Thanks, I try!
The bypass valve even says in it's instructions that it can hurt performance, especially on a turbocharged car. Besides, if I have to go through questionable water I can simply loosen the rubber hose section between the upper and lower pipe and move it out of the way so it can breath through the gap instead of through the filter. This would only be a very temporary thing though, just until the threat is gone. The filter cover helps keep debris out of the filter, but it will not keep water out if the filter becomes submerged. I have two OCC's because there are two hoses that draw out oil from the engine, one is the PCV and the other is on the opposite side and goes into the air box, but when you have an aftermarket intake it goes into the pipe which can cause the oil to get in the turbo, intercooler and engine. I used two to see how much oil was lost from each one individually. You can easily tie both into one OCC, which I may do at a later time to clean up the look under the hood.

Has anyone heard of the HKS super mega flow or something like that for the cold air intake...i heard thats really good, not sure if it would be the best for the srt./....also what do you think is the best air intake for the 04 srt's.......?
