Hey guys , iam getting an 05 SRT4 at the end of this month and one of my friend owns a GTO (05 or 06 not sure the one with 400) he laught everytime i said im going to beat u up with the srt4 so hes saying that srt4's ( even with upgrades LOL )never ever canbeat a GTO
MY QUESTION IS
WHAT DO I NEED (UPGRADES) TO BEAT UP THIS LOOSER WITH MY NEW SRT4?, I dont think i need 400 at the wheel since the GTO is a lot heavier right? maybe 350 at the wheel? (thinking stage 2?)
and dont want to spend a fortune .

 

u dont need alot of upgrades to beat a stock gto, i think they run mid to high 13's in the 1/4 mile, and stock srt4's can run high 13's stock wen driven well,so with a few mods im sure u could win. Not really sure wat mods to get so ill just let the others answer that question.

the best mod u can do is learn how to drive your car.

 

great advice bro ,,,, even if u a super driver I don't think u can beat a 400hp car with a 240hp car unless the 400hp guy $ucks driving, I actually own a 91 240 with an sr20det , been driving for a long time not

yea, but thats the first step. these cars are tricky off the line. well for me anyways.but yea, stage 2 and u shouldn't have any problems, althought u probably wont even need that.

 

Check out the power to weight ratio of the two cars....the GTO is a fat slob.......take him on at the track in cool air and lower your front tire pressure as well as losing your donut tire and jack and whatever other junk you carry. Go with the mimimum amount of gasoline you can get away with....before that, practice with different RPMs for the best launch.

There is a replacement for displacement: Power to weight ratio. And as these other members have stated already, the driver mod. GTOs are nice cars, but they aren't god's gift to automobiles. I don't condone street racing at all, but if taken to the track, you could hand it to him with just minimal bolt ons done to your car. Practice launching the car stock at the track first, because they are extremely tricky. [/align][/align]Isaw a new GTO run at the track once, didnt miss a shift. The GTO ran a 14.2. The car is capable of much more than that in the 1/4. But in the end you can have all the horsepower in the world, but its almost always a driver's race.[/align]

 

that sounds very promising guys thanks a lot, I'll be practicing the car stock while I'm waiting for the stage 2 kit but sure I like to be at the 300 to the wheels, very appreciate the inputs u guys gave me , btw any suggestion on where to buy the stage 2 kit cheaper ? I have seen it as low as 8xx I think that is good right? Believe me is way more cheaper to make this car faster than an sr20det ,sure I'll be missing drifting
