Launches
[:-]
Ok, so any tips on launching? That's where I need my work. I seem to spin the dang tires or bounce the car before I get going. I still win but, I want to be a better winner. Is that bad? ha ha ha... SexySRTchick can ya feel me here? By the way, how did you wreck your car?

Get yourself some motor mounts to reduce the wheel hop. Best launches are around 2000-2500 rpms. Practice, practice, practice. Buy a set of slicks for the track if you have the $$$.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
Yeah hunn definitely get some motor mounts, and some solid ones. Cause if not once you get Stage 1 and/or 2 or 3.....you're gonna have SOOOO much vibration its not even funny. The way I've learned to get a better launch, is to sit in your driveway, and let the clutch out until you feel the car start to stumble, then push it in slightly more....one you need to launch GAS it. And yeah the wheels do spin alot...regardless. Its all the torque the cars backing.
Hell yeah I feel you there. One thing that alot of people do and you really aren't supposed to is rev with the clutch in and then let it out and your already at 3-4k RPMS. I've heard its bad for the clutch. And on a bunch of these cars the flywheel bolts have backed out on people, randomly, though theres no TSB on it yet.
But its fkn sweet as hell when a dude rolls up next to you in his v8 camaro, sees your a chick, thinks he can take you, and then you OWN his ***
Thats all I can suggest, this is my first stick, so I'm still experimenting.....then when my 12/12k clutch warranty is about to run out, I'll have a new one put it....if not upgrade by then.
How did I wreck my car? I hydroplaned trying to slow down and take an exit, wheel locked cause of the damn torque around a corner I couldnt get the wheel to come back, I flew over a median and smashed into a guardrail. Lucius will be okay though....he's in damn good hands.

You named your car after the dude in the Village? OMG!!! ROFLMAO!!! Yeah, I totally hear ya on the guys with the dick in the dirt face. I've put that look on a few faces. It's awesome. Oh GAWD, my side is killing me from laughing at your cars name... Rock out with your ummm... Go on with your bad self... LOL!!!

you launch your car with the rpms at idle? you will always get wheel spin that way. with all that power just dumped there's no way that the tires could ever get any sort of traction.
you should rev the car slightly, where you rev it to depends on tires. really the best thing to do is to feather the gas to build up a little boost before you launch, keep it around 2200 for street tires (2600 for dr's, slightly higer for slicks), and ride the clutch slightly. don't just dump the clutch on this car, you'll not only get massive wheel hop but you might also break and axle. that's how to launch, and yes, it's slightly hard on your clutch because you do have to ride it a little. if you do get wheel hop (which you will with most set ups) let off the gas slightly just for a second to allow the tires to slow down a little and then floor it again and you should just take off from there.
the flywheel bolts backing out issue has happened on about 10 cars and is not something that you should be thinking about. it's a factory defect and if it's going to happen it will, no matter how you drive the car. it's not caused by launching, it's cause by the guy on the assembly line not tightening them enough when they install the clutch.

PSI Chick sounds right on launches... I have heard RPM's of lower values (1500 to 2000)... practice!

You can also get motor mount inserts, they work great for me. I finally put them to the test yesterday leaving McDonalds, I brought up the RPM's and dumped the clutch to see how it would react and it stayed smooth as glass just putting up mounds of smoke from the tires, no wheel hop whatsoever.
i'm just speaking from my own experience with what's worked best for me and fellow owners around here. from numerous trips down the track we've kind of figure out what works and what doesn't, and those numbers are what's worked for us. i run dr's now, so i launch a little higher, around 2600.
as for motor mounts, those seem to be a favorite suggestion on this board. but i keep saying, and i'll say it again, don't waste your money on them, in the long run they don't stand up to the abuse. i have the inserts, have had them for about a year. needless to say my lower one is completly torn to shreads and mangled beyond recognition. it's a mess. i too thought that inserts were good enough, now i know better. unfortunetly i had to learn the hard way when my lower one went out and took out my dp in the process. the engine was moving so much that the clamp holding in my race pipe gave. good thing that there's a crossmember right there or my whole exhaust would have been left in the middle of the bronx river parkway last weekend. i am not the first one that this has happened to, and i'm sure that i won't be the last. do yourself a favor and get solid mounts, they are really worth it in the long run.

Thanks a lot for the info. Yeah, I've pretty much got the backing off of it for a second down. That works wonders but, I'd like to just lay into it and go. It seriously feels like I'm going to bust the axle when it starts hoping. Sometimes I have it reved just right to where I launch fine but sometimes not so, I just need to pay more attention to the dash so when I am doing things right, I can remember for the next time. I'll look into the solid motor mounts. Any suggestions?
