Stage 3
cams can give you 10-30hp depending on the tune and the type of cams. some requite new springs, other's don't, it all depends on which ones you get. the crane 12 and 14's use the stock, and the cower s1 and 2 you can use stock as well if i remember correctly, any bigger and you need to do springs and retainers.

at the 400 mark? well this is just a quote from the agp s4 package:
"Up until now, you've had to piece all the parts together to make it all work properly to get over 400whp on pump gas, and it's been confusing as hell for most of you. Now it's simple."

upgrading is still a bit down the road for me but i'm leaning towards a s4 kit instead of a s3. i'd rather have a properly tuned s4 w basic mods and nothing toowild making decent power, instead of a radical s3 with every trick in the book just to make roughly the same power. with still more potential left in the s4 to go more extreme in the future if more power is wanted or needed.
and i am talking about buying the complete kit, not just slapping on a 50-trim and getting less than expected performance because of "running low boost and pulling timing like mad, until the fuel upgrades are finished and i had trouble with fmic install so must have boost leaks" excuses. and i assume that it's called a stage 4 because it's capable of making more power than a s3 with both systems being equal on supprting mods. LOL.

sure it can potentially make more power, it's a larger turbo. but it's not as easy as they make it seem to get 400hp out of it, even with the kit. just don't think that you're gonna throw it all on, get a base tune and all of a sudden have 400hp, it's just not gonna happen. most 50 trim set ups are in the 350 area until there's further modifications done.....
just in case this point was totally forgotten, the reasons for whyi'll probably go with a s4 were:
"i'm leaning towards a s4 kit instead of a s3. i'd rather have a properly tuned s4 w basic mods and nothing toowild making decent power, instead of a radical s3 with every trick in the book just to make roughly the same power. with still more potential left in the s4 to go more extreme in the future if more power is wanted or needed." it is a bigger turbo, soi'd have to think that aless extreme bolt-on supporting mods list would be needed to get decent numbers.

You do not have to tune "all the time".... this is a common misconception.........You can change your tune based on environmental changes and future mods, but if you keep the same set up there is really no need for constantly playing with your tune. IMO ........ For the record stage 3 is not going to limit you with track times unless your goals are in the 10's....... yes you can get higher hp from getting a big turbo, but high hp doesn't mean you are going to get down the track any faster ! Yes I can crank up the boost and make the dyno say I have more power than PsiChick.... but she is still gonna beat me down the track right now.
Mchat's old setup made around 500whp and only ran a tenth of a second quicker to my knowledge.

i still haven't totally ruled out a s3 w/toys, which i probably wouldn't "tune" after it was installed. my only concern with the s4 kit was mainly about the install, if it was a complete kit or not and if the instructions were good, or not so clear. either kit would also get a 3" exhaust upgrade, larger than the "direct fit" IC that comes with s4 kit, better clutch and flywheel.
