What's the fastest top speed (mph) you hit???
I can hit 120 in my neon, when it was stock, in 4th, does that mean that when I shift 5th that the speed limiter goes away or there is enough power in the motor to pull in 5th. Guess what NO is the answer!!!!!!!!!!!

well black if you READ the last 3 posts maybe you would learn something. i provided a spec sheet, i was at ATP when they dynoed a stock ws6 that hit 143 in 4th gear, and i rode in a slightly modded SS that did well over 160mph you have nothing. you just THINK they cant do whatever. im not going to aruge with you anymore. if you dont think that a car with over 300hp to the wheels that can hit 12's with good traction CANT go over 160mph then your just stupid.. say what you want but even the slower LT1 f-bodys hit over 150mph. scince you clearly have never raced a ls1 f-body you woudnt know what you talking about. if that car can hit 143mph in 4th gear alone why couldnt it go over 160 in 5th? 6th gear is the overdrive so there would still be some pull in 5th right? i guess you didnt read my last posts so please stop aruging with me beacuse you have no evidence to back your statement up.

well hey guys if you dont want to belive that those cars cant go over 160 no big deal. everyone sure is happy when they beat a ls1 like its a big deal for such a slow car then! like i said i guess just about everyone where i live must have some crazy ls1 cars then. my bad as for the site i didnt make it so i cant tell you. im not trying to defend the chevys but when i see people at the track pulling 12's in a near stock ls1 i just cant help wonder how they couldnt go over 160. but then agian 98% of the people i talk to dont even know what a Nighthawk is so whatever. it just amazes me that the srt can break 155 when a higher hp car with more tourqe and better freeway gears cant. but then no one argues if a covette can go over 160 and a camaro is the same motor in a slightly heavier car so whatever. once agian i must be dreaming. like i said before just drop it but you guys just insist of having the last word. so go ahead and flame me agian but a stock SS/ws6 will beat a stock srt-4 on the freeway.
If you read my last post you would see that I too have said the same, a stock LS1 WS6 will beat a stock SRT-4 in everyway in a straight line (not just top speed freeway driving), except braking. I have said many times and proven that the stock LS1 WS6 will go over 160 MPH, but they will not go over 170 MPH let alone 175 MPH like you have claimed. The Corvette with the same engine can because it is more aerodynamic (this is very important at these speeds), lighter and has different gearing. The LS1 SS has almost identical performance specs as the LS1 WS6 across the board. The 1/4 mile performance of a car has absolutely nothing to do with their top speed abilitys and vice versa. My dad's Barracuda has a 630+ horsepower 426 Hemi with fiberglass fenders and is good for mid 10's in the 1/4 mile and weighs around 3,500 lbs. It has more than enough power to get the right car up to 250 MPH, but his Barracuda can't even come close to that top speed, it would probably top out at around 160 MPH. Top speed has to deal with many factors that 1/4 mile runs don't, such as final drive gear ratio and aerodynamics. The power curves also play an important part in combination with the gearing, if the gearing isn't matched to the power curve the car could actually slow down when put into the highest gear. You can check these kinds of things out for yourself with any of the Gran Turismo games. The SRT-4 is a prime example of this, everything comes together just right to give it such a high top speed from a Neon. And as far as slightly modified cars go, you can drop a full second in the 1/4 mile in an SRT-4 by simply putting slicks on it. Some slight modifications can make a huge difference.
I have never heard of or seen any such thing as the Nighthawk that your talking about. Even when I do a search all I get back is the Honda Nighthawk motorcycle.

the Nighthawk is a limited production t/a with reverse cowl inducdion hood-not like the ws6 "ram air" hood, it comes with a i belive a LS6 and has upgraded throttlebody/exhaust /bigger injectors. ive only seen two in my life. one was a automatic the other was twin turbo. they are all blacked out and it says NIGHTHAWK in blue where the WS6 would be. its sort of like the Firehawk but with a LS verion of the LT, faster than the run of the mill ws6. i belive only some dealers carried the opiton. sort of like a yenko deal. the guy i talked to with the automatic said he ran a 12.8 when it was stock. like i said ive only seen 2 the hood looks like a 03-04 cobra hood only with 6 reverse hood scoops.
arent the kawasaki ninjis pretty fast also. and in my 1st gen turbo I can go as fast as the srt4s ive raced a few but im limited now cause of my rebuilt engine ive done between 150 to 16o in my turbo modded ouy 1st gen neon. its just for show now.
